View Full Version : Games to play on my new Plasma TV

Hi all, Just got myself a brand new 50" 1080p Panasonic Plasma TV. I love it.

So I think I want to play some PC games with a control pad for a while on my TV. at the moment I only have Sega Rally Revo and I'm getting a bit sick of it because it plays like a true arcade machine - have 20 minutes of fun and then move on.

I need some games to play that meet the following criteria:

1. Play with control pad
2. Nice graphics - I'm a bit of gw
3. preferably a racing game, no fps or rts that require mouse and keyboard.

any suggestions?

Flatout 1 and 2

The graphics are great, the crashes are insane, especially in 2. On a big screen its just even more impressive.

OMG! This game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBKq_nIYdbg) would so much rock on a large screen!!

Did you break in your plasma first? A good idea before playing games with their static HUDs on a plasma is to run some TV channel, stretched full screen if you have to, and one without a ticker or those faint channel ids that they overlay sometimes. Like 100 hours of that will drastically reduce your chances of future burnin, at least that's what I hear.

Check out AVSForum for more info, that's where I learned about this stuff, still on CRTs here myself, I hate LCDs...

I remember playing that on my neighbor's enormous projection screen TV back 1990-1992. Good times.

DiRT is a great looking driving game if you haven't tried it yet.

Congrats on the purchase, but what's your joypad? If you've got a logitech rumblepad 2 like me and half the world, you can look forward to:

1. Works in DiRT, but not in the menus.
2. Works in Gears of War, but the Y axis is inverted.
3. Works in Carbon, but not on the map.

I went through Trackmania Sunrise when I got my telly, sat on the floor enjoying the redraw distance. Still don't understand why it's so cheap!!

And GRiD is coming out soon(ish).

I guess TDU is your best bet for driving, otherwise Resident Evil 4 was an amazing 16 hours, or Lost Planet if you can find it on the cheap. Trails off in the second half but woo-eee some purdy gfx.
