I've never been a fan of ATI but I'm really hoping they stick it to nVidia with this one. They need a good jolt to get their act together/a reason to spend money on developing a faster product.

Im buy 4870 :)

Hmm texture fillrate looks a bit low compared to the g80 series, but 1Gb GDDR5 and 123,8Gb/s memory bandwidth could make things more interesting. :) Combine that with 1 Teraflops of sheer processing power, you get one hell of a product.

Let's just hope that the drivers aren't going to ruin this product.

Looks like ATI switched to different clocks for shaders and core. They also doubled the TMUs.If they corrected their AA performance with the use of a dedicated engine it seems that they'll have a decent product in their hands.
Most amazing thing if it happens though is that this will be the first product in ages that wont be delayed.:D :p :p

Hmm still 16 ROP's ? i thought they would move to 24 by the next-gen ..

sounds good though for the price.

If it's as good, cheap and efficient as it looks there, it makes me wonder what nVidia are gonna be doing to this G92b GPU to make it compete. Of course that's an ATI 'if', which are as big as 'ifs' can get.

Yes way. And the 4870X2 will be 450. The cards will replace the same prices as the current gen of cards.

ill be upgrading my 3870x2's for two 4870x2's.

If it's true that nVidia aint doing a 9900GX2 then ATi should be well ahead 'til the GT200 appears. Only good can come of this. Either lower prices or an earlier release (or both) for the nVidia cards.

I may even get one myself.

still 256-bit, wtf? Nice price though. Seen too many decent specs on paper that fail in real world gaming for me to get excited, but I do hope it's a decent product, the gpu market is in need of competition, nvidia has been dragging their g92 arch for way too long.

the 4870x2 is to be 512-bit and not just be as simple as 2 cards crossfired togeather.

Its supposed to use the same memory pool so both cards will adress a huge 2gb memory pool.

Only bad part is the 4870x2 dosnt release untell june-aug as the cards take a bit more to develop.

WWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CCCCCCCCCAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRREEEEEEESSSSSSSSS?

Really?

WHO CARES?

Its AMD crap company. I don't care if they say they are releasing a product with 80 Tflops. All their products are crap until they aren't. Until I see REAL WORLD benchmarks by REAL people, they are a subpar company with subpar products.

This is a rumor thread for us to share are rumors. If you dont care then you dont need to share it with us. And my "Subpar" system would out perform yours.

Why do people think that a 512-bit bus is the magic way to incredible awesomeness? :headexplode: A high enough memory bandwidth can be achieved with a smaller bus, by using faster memory. GDDR5 @~2000Mhz with a 512-bit bus would be overkill by a mile(or ten).

These specs have already been confirmed to be bs by a number of people on other forums, so it's very unlikely that these are anywhere near the final specs. Nvidia would be releasing a better card if these specs were true.

I'm guessing the rv770 won't be anything, but a slightly overclocked rv670, with more SPs and 32rops and TMUs(assuming ati continues their 1:1 rop:tmu ratio). I'm guessing ddr3 as well, because gddr5 would add too much to the price and would cost amd a lot of money if they sold it at 359$.

That is so true. These rumors and specs look pretty good but with AMD you'll never know what to expect in the end.

You can expect a crappy subpar product is what you can expect. Then if a product is actually good(which is rarely the case), then all the better.

AMD doesn't deserve good rumors. They deserve the truth to be told, something they haven't given the public before a release in quite a few years. AMD is full of smoke and rumors. Every product they release is "suppose" to take the world by storm, and ends up being extremely terrible.

TW, I don't like sport, I have no interest in sport at all. So you know what I do? I stay the hell out of the Sport section, as I have nothing good or helpful to say about it.

You see what I'm getting at? ;)
