One more hurray for Steam.

Everyone will go this way, Steam owns retail sales and MS are in negotiations with the NPD group over to start count the digital sales, as everywon here knows they sell shi.. loads of games there and so the Pc gaming market are in extremely fast rising :D

Quote"
Steam is a great place to sell PC games. I think it is becoming the place to sell PC games, so if you're not there, you've limited your marketplace. The numbers in a very short time have been amazing on Steam. We were shocked, we should have done it sooner. "

Glad to hear it, now if regional restrictions were removed (did you hear that Ubicrap?) Steam would be perfect.

BTW in that inverview they say they are considering using SteamWorks for future projects, so that could mean easy friend invitations to play, matchmaking and achievements

Oh how I wish someone would invent a simple solution to enable cross-platform multiplayer.

Back on topic . . . . Steam freakin' rocks.

I remember when HL2 first came out, everyone hated Steam, lol.

I guess it's matured enough now, it don't mind it as much as I did. For launching one game at the time, it was a bit of a pain. Now with the Orange box, everything is in one place and gets updates automagically. (nana2)

Hopefully the only thing they sold was past Unreals and UTs... I hope 3 people bought UT3... because that game deserves to be banned from everywhere.

Achievements is crap and ONLY belongs to little children aka console boys/girlies and NOT on Pc Gaming!

why?

its distracts from real purpose of playing a game. People play games just to gain points to brag about, think of it like post count. I have 25,000 points so that makes me more important then you with 10,000.

people used to play games to enjoy the story, have fun with friends.

It's up to you what to do with achievements. I ignored them the first time I played Half Life 2 Episode 2, but then I replayed it to get most of them and it was fun. As I have said many times, let the achievements be there, people can just ignore them if they don't like them

Lol!, I was thinking the exact same thing, so mamy posts I recall - "It's a STEAMing pile of #$%#$%".... especially on the cs forums...
