Anyone else remember a game similar to GODS? I cant remember it but it did have a sort of 3d feel to the background..and it was similar to Golden Axe as in you had to clear the area before -->> GO sign appears..

It also allowed the character call special powers and he would..i think race his fingers or something and wtfpwns everything..

He also looked like rambo....

dammit...SOMEONE REMEMBER IT!!!

I know its strange thing to ask...but i pretty much finished GODS and XENON2 yesterday and kinda feel like i wanna play more of those classics...

anyone recall will get a free cookie...:afro:

It kinda sounds like Midnight Resistance or Switch Blade/Switch blade 2.

The story from memory felt in the line of the same as golden axe, but similar to GODS and had end level bosses...and the last one was a bitch...it took me many attempts to take him out..and man when i did...holy **** what a feeling....

Still searching :(

Nope...dosen't seem like any of them either.

The game character wasn't a alien or a monster, he was a human and i think he was some red Indian guy or something like that. Also each level had some kind priest like guys stuck in statues, and when you destroyed them they just pwn everything in the screen for a few seconds.

Was it for Amiga?

I don't know squat about those games but I'm bored so I'm going to look for it on mobygames.

This sounds like Risky Woods (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/risky-woods), havent seen it for PC, but I used to have it for MegaDrive and Amiga 500. Used to play it alot.

Id also like to recomend Leander (Galahad on Megadrive), Simalar type of game but better :)

EDIT:
Removed Image links, since moby didnt allow direct linking

The pics aren't showing up, mobygames doesn't allow hot linking to images.

And I agree, Risky Woods seems to fit the bill perfectly:

I've never played it though.

Yeah Im sure of it, I never knew it was released for PC too, I was hooked on amiga at that time. IMO, It's better to stick with amiga versions of the games from that era, due to far superior sound.

Either way, it was a fun game with some challenge, Music was good too (Amiga Version)

I wish Amiga emulators weren't such a pain in the ass. I'd love to play some of these Amiga games but I had a hell of a time getting anything to work properly. I wanted to play Shadow of the Beast at its proper frame rate (the Genesis version is like 15% faster which makes an already difficult game nearly impossible) but I had problems even getting the game to work most of the time.

Amiga emulation is a bit painfull if your not familiar with the old hardware.
Games like shadow of the beast works just fine with a proper setup.

Best thing you could do is to try to mimic the A500 as close as possible (I use this for Amiga Demos as they can be very picky about hardware, and this setups should be very good for old A500 games too), set ram to 2mb chip (1mb Chip/1Mb Fast as an alternative). GFX to ECS/OCS (this is the gfx chipset of the old A500 series)
CPU Should be Motorola 68000 (7.xx mhz) and set everything for maximum compatibility here as hardware today is so fast it wont pose any speed problems. "As fast as possible" mode can cause problems and some games will just go too fast.

I also recomend seting GFX via OpenGL so you can stretch the screen your self, Amiga could draw stuff outside screen on the black borders, but not all games did this, it's sometimes usefull to be able to see those borders. Do not use screendoubling, Highres interlaced modes will flicker if you do.
Disk Driver speed you set to Turbo mode, if that dont work set it to 800% as it's more compatible, very picky games only work with normal read speed.

I could PM you some of my Config Files on monday if you like.

Sure. That'd be great. :)

Which emulator do you use? Its been a while since I messed with Amiga stuff, I don't know if I still have my emus.

I use Winuae (http://www.winuae.net/), probably a bit dated too as ive not looked for new versions in quite some time.
Config files should work either way, ive used my own config files for years now and migrated them to newer versions of the emulator.

EDIT: Ok, seems I use a very dated version 0.9xx (latest version is 1.4.6)
So Ill grab the latest one, make sure my config files still works, and PM you them after the weekend with some instructions on what you might need to change for them to match your setup, Ill setup screen for 1680x1050 too. Id do it sooner but I got no connection at home :(

I have a standard 4:3 CRT, so 1600x1200 or 1280x960 would work better for me. But I can probably change those myself if the settings aren't too hidden. :)

Thanks for your help EciDemon. I love old games and I completely missed the Amiga back in the day. I have some catching up to do. :p

Sure no prob :), ill preset res to your crt then. I just figured you used the 22" listed in your sig (and didnt look close enugh its CRT) .
Amiga had lots of fun games, many of them was also ported to PC, many of the PC ports ive tried too, but due to sound being not very good on PC back when, i prefer Amiga versions. Ive managed to find most of my old amiga originals (i could never convert my own disks as my old a500 is dead and ive removed stuff from it)

A few other good Amiga games you guys should check out is:
Fury of the Furies (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/fury-of-the-furries) (also available on PC)
Lion Heart (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/lionheart) (Amiga only, one of the best looking platformers there is on A500)
Moonstone (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/moonstone-a-hard-days-knight) (also on PC, Both versions are buggy tho, really nice multiplayer game)
Ruff n Tumble (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/ruff-n-tumble) (Amiga only)
The Chaos Engine (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/chaos-engine) (_the_ classic)
Turrican 2 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/turrican-ii-the-final-fight)
Turrican 3 (http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/turrican-3)
Risky woods and Leander too as mentioned in earlier post

Thats just to mention a few, ill have to go check my collection for more games I can recomend.

What was the name of that Amiga game where you could play as tank or helicopter (or both with a friend in coop mode). It was a vertical scroller, like 1942. That game was really fun, one of my favorites with Turrican
