Ok this has just landed at my door step :)

What you are looking at is 2x MTRON 32GB Pro SSD's and a Areca ARC-1231ML SATA / SAS PCI-E RAID Controller Card.

These SSD's will be installed in a Raid 0 setup. Future build will increase the number of SSD's for higher bandwith, with the end in mind of a total of 8 SSD's in Raid 0.

So this is build #1.

This is projected stats of this Raid 0 Setup.

Also my Phase Builder and I have come up with an Extreme Cooling Setup that will be simply Killer ! This new version is currently being worked and on planned out. I am so excited about this new build as it will be a one of a kind, never done before, blow you away setup. I will post pictures when they become available :)

Wow, looking forward to results. Be sure and do a Before/After compare with stuff like boot time and program/game load times.

That is the plan.

1st setup will be 1 SSD & tested. Then 2nd setup with Raid 0 and tested.

Before I go all out on SSD's I want to test 1 vs 2 SSD's in Raid 0 to see how much it actually effects performance.

Wow, aren't those 32GB SSD's like $700 each? Mang, I can't wait for the price to drop on these things.

Oh man that is awesome :D I so want SSD drives but they are ridiculously expensive! I think I will settle on the Velociraptor 300GB

Isn't that like a $9000 set up?

Still, around 1GB/sec from HDDs, if I had the extra cash laying around, I'd be tempted...

Don't you mean 900$? One 32Gb SSD drive goes for around 450€ here, so I guess that would translate to 450$ the in we-rip-off-our-European-costumers-style. :)

Incredible scores! :) So how long does a boot take, and it would be nice to see this go up against the ram-hdd jAkUp tested some time ago? :D

here's a funny little clip where a 7200rpm HDD goes up against an SSD drive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt6VbOY3xE0

To me that's money well spent compared to a QX9770 for example. Far more benefit for every day use.

Totally agree! So anyone know when the prices are gonna fall? :)

I can bet that the prices will only fall after 5 years here in South Africa.

A bunch of Pygmies kidnapped me from my parents' mansion in England. The brought me over to Africa, and I've been here ever since.

LOL :D

Hmm could you put one of these in a ps3? Some games can be installed on the hard drive, so wouldn't that make load times a lot shorter?

These came from www.DVNation.com and are MTRON Pro SSD's, they have much better spec's and reliability than other brand SSDs. The $700 Pro SSDs are the 16GB versions, the ones I have are 32GB.

I have upped my processor spec to a QX9770 also which will be here today. I do have plans for my QX9650 and that will be to torture it along with my 8800GTXs under LN2 and Cascades as soon as this is released, and I have the time... http://www.techpowerup.com/58425/FOX... herboard.html

Just a note here. They guys over at DVNation are very cool, friendly and know what they are talking about. Do not think for a minute that some other brand SSDs that have a much cheaper price will be a better value, there is a good reason that these cost more, its called performance and reliability.

On a side note: On a larger Raid setup it might have been better to go with 16GB and added more SSDs for more bandwidth, it would have been cheaper in the long run for an 8 disk Raid 0. But then this was not about being cheap :)

Sweet let us know. I'm sure a lot of people have thought about it, but no one has been able to do it yet. I really want an SSD drive as well. :captnkill:

Didn't see the "Pro" on the sticker there. The Pro series is 750 here, so 64Gb hd space cost you about as much as a whole new computer would. It's still awesome though!

How fast is the boot time with those? I've heard mixed reviews from people that have them... some have said superfast (one guy said 10 seconds to boot XP) and others have said not much difference. Sounds like there's quite a difference between brands.

10 seconds to boot XP? I'm in, I don't care how much they cost.

These MTRON Pro SSD's should have about 8-10 second boot time.

I will have 1 SSD connected today to my work machine and install Vista on it as a pre-test and see how these do.

So are these things limited by SATA bandwidth? It seems like they would be.

Thats compared to the old raptor is it?

Why doesn't a single ssd saturate the bandwidth?

10 seconds?!?!? Isn't that a bit slow. What are the speeds when large amount of data is transfered from the HD to the RAM. I were hoping that with SSD's we could have speeds like that.
