Guys

I need a bit of help and would like your Opinion? I am looking at getting a 24inch Monitor and I have seen this one
http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/24%22+Yuraku+Widescreen+LCD+Monitor+DVI+HDCP+?prod uctId=30640

Now it has a AUO M240UW01 panel the same that is in the Acer AL2423W , BenQ FP241VW, BenQ FP241W and LG L246WP. Now for £200 it seems a great deal would you go for it or would you get a more expensive brand??

Yeah its a newer version of the 245BW with much higher contrast ratio and so. have read some rev and its probably one of the finest TN displays out there!

BenQ G2400W seems like a nice one to :)

The consumer review on Newegg don't seem too positive though. Is there a reliability issue? I'm looking to get a new screen in a month or so.

Screw what the newegg reviewers say. They're all whiny bitches that point out the smallest negative thing. I love my sammy monitor (906BW) and I have no regrets or complaints about it. Samsung makes excellent products. You just gotta experience things for yourself.

I am in this boat right now, I'm "upgrading" from my 21" CRT to a 24"WS LCD. I am testing the BenQ G2400W and the Samsung 2493HM. I have Samsung 2493HM and my only complaint is that it will not allow driver scaling. This means blurry images when running at resolutions lower than 1920x1200. This is kind of a deal killer since not all games can do 1920x1200 with full bells and whistles. I get the BenQ today which is very well reviewed, especially over at Hardforum.

I will know more after I test the G2400W tonight. There is a really good comparison test here:

I have still been reading up, this guy has the Yuraku and he rates it a lot http://blog.equk.co.uk/pc-spec-2/yuraku-24-p-mva-hdcp/

I have been looking at some TN panels but I don't know if I can go from my Dell 2007 IPS panel to a TN one that would be a step down imo. 24inch IPS panel monitors are too expensive and leaves PVA or MVA ones really and some of the PVA ones are very expensive also.

i have the lg l246wp-bn, so if this is the same panel, i can highly recommend it. very low input lag, great for gaming.

Intresting I looking forward to hear what you think about the BenQ :)

My choises have been between these 2 monitors and I have read a lot at Hardforum, they seem to like them both but as you said the 2493 dont have proper scaling so thats sucks

I wonder about the contast tho as Samsungs have so much higher but I dont know if it really means anything more then just numbers so let me know :D

Yea that’s why it sounds so good. The other known brand monitors that use the panel cost around £450. So it will be a bargin if it is any good.

I have convinced one of my mates to order the monitor as he is still using a 18 inch 4:3 and he wanted a new one. He should have it tomorrow so I can take a look over the weekend (its a bank holiday also :D ) at some point and then decide if I will get it or not. I think it will come down to the build quality. I don't expect it will be brilliant but for £200 I wouldn’t expect it to be up to the standard of lets say a Samsung or Dell.

OK I went round to see my mates and its a great monitor for the price. OK the build quality is no ware near a good as my Dell but is a passable and really the main thing is the quality of the panel and that was very good, OK again it was not as good as my Dell (IPS panel) but way better than a TN imo.
So I just ordered one. It should be here by the end of the week (1-3 days delv) . When I get it I will post some pics.

but again its a TN panel and for that price you could get two of the Yuraku's that I am getting.

Well I got the monitor and its great. I will post some photos etc later today for you. I checked the menu and the panel is a SA-LTM240M2-L01, which apparently is a Samsung S-PVA that's also used in the Eizo CE24W.

Well here are a few images of the monitor (sorry about the photos I do need to get a better camera next thing to buy :) )

Here is the box it came in

Set up on my desk (it looked huge on the desk :) )
http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/2915/1000259kf6.jpg

On the Windows desktop now its time to set up the colours correctly which for me takes a few days to get just right.

Panel version (so pleased about the one I got)
http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/2839/1000255oi8.jpg

If you take a look on this page it tells you some infor about different panels http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/lcd.panels.in.monitors.htm

I can really say this is a great Monitor for the price it did have a bit of backlight bleed but after running it for a few hours, that has now nearly gone (most posts about this monitor say the same). I have played a few games COPD4, TF2, Crysis and imo it has less lag than my old 2007WFP which is a plus for me.
OK the case thats it is in is not great and the whole thing weighs less than my old 2007WFP. But that means I can move it easy if I need to. But for the price of £215 inc delv I did not go wrong at all.

Looks EdZachary like the Viewsonic Q241wb, but with a little more shiny trim. I just got the Q241wb for the office. Luckily, mine is the sPVA and not the TN version.
