Can this be used to power 1 9800GTX in SLI and use the standard PSU's PCI-E connectors to power the second 9800GTX? I was thinking about grabbing one of these since my PSU only comes with 2x 6 pins and 2x 8 pins (I'm thinking of 9800GTX SLI) and just using this GPU PSU to power my GPU's.

if you can wire it up right it should work.

Cant you get some more modular leads for your psu? Not modular?

If you can convert a 6pin to an 8 pin then it should work

Will I have to daisy chain a bunch of stuff?

what sockets is the GTX 2x8 or 6+8

if it needs 2x8 for sli you'd need 2 of those power supplies
Some companies say no its dangerous to use converters but others supply them with the cards.

Just get a new PSU and save yourself the hassle, Modular this time

Sell the Hiper on ebay ,You'll get a decent price.

+Having that supplementary PSU in your case with cram it up bad, no need for that thing with the hot air pumping into your case.

It uses 6+8. I just finished building this PC about 5 weeks ago!! :(:(. Mine has 2x 6 and 2x 8, but I might end up getting Tri-SLi and a 780i.

GTX. I have EVGA 9600GT's so I might Step-Up and buy an extra 9800GTX. ****, I wish the 9600GT's would do Tri-SLI. That's what Nvidia needs to do, produce Tri-SLI into their mainstream/almost high end cards instead of their million dollar high end cards. Can you imagine 9600GT's in Tri-SLI? If only there was a Tri-SLI bridge with only 3 connectors instead of 6.

some guy here seems to know a lot about psu leads

tri sli GTX you would need a new psu anyway, or maybe 2.

What does jAkUp use

I think he has a TT 1.2k. But he has 2x 9800GX2's.

The thing is that I can power 2 9800GX2's but only 1 9800GTX because for some retarded reason, the 9800GTX uses 2x 6pin connectors.

orly, whats the overclocked power consumption on 1 GTX, NM card looks not so good.

having a quick look at benches with single 9800gtx vs 8800gt is about the same, seems crap

hows 9800gtx compare in sli with 9600gt's ,is it really worth it?

GX2's look good ,can you step up like that?

I don't know, but I know my PSU can handle 2 GTX's if I had the required connections.
