Samsung SyncMaster 2053BW blackouts in DVI mode

I just built a new PC everything was running fine, but my monitor a Samsung SyncMaster 2053BW blackouts in DVI mode every so often blacksout then comes back on a few seconds later. Sometimes I see the lost DVI signal icon in the corner other times i dont (may just miss it). I have the most recent Nvidia drivers installed, and flashed my mobo to its most recent bios. I can use the monitor for hours and no problem, then all of a sudden it loses the signal and I get a black screen.

intel 9300
asus maximus extreme
750 wat psu
XP Pro SP2

Check/replace DVI cable. Try reducing the refresh rate to 50hz and see if it still happen.

already checked the cables, 50hz, why would that help?
