My system cost $1100 to build from the local Fry's. Course it's been 2 months so now I am sure you get a little more for that money.

Check my sig for parts.

I love my P35 DS3R. I don't think the L is too much different. :)

Gigabyte are making some really nice boards these days. Especially their HTPC boards. HDMI, DVI, VGA, Component, Optical with DTS connect all onboard for $100. ::D:

Just remember to turn off native command queuing for the samsung F1 and it'll save you a lot of headaches! :) Otherwise it'll keep crashing.

Toss how you do that?

Right click on "computer" -> properties (left click)-> device manager(left click) -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> right click the sata controller that controls the hdd(you can check this by just selecting one -> properties and then click on the "port 1" and "port 0" tabs to see if your hdd is listed) -> remove the check from the "enable command queuing" box once you've found it.

if you want the F1, the 1TB drive is better, 750Gb is slower then 1TB.

WD 640Gb would be better choice then 750GB F1, if you want a fast 7200RPM drive.

why spend more money on a case then a cpu...that seems ridiculous

usually you keep the case longer then CPU

Because its not plastic and stamp steel and how many cases would you ever want after buying a good case the first time not to mention awesome air flow.

guess that makes sense. I just figure I'd want to look at something new and different after building a new rig, but to each his own.

TJ-09 is a huge case. Hope you don't plan on moving it too often.

Also, the E8400 seems a little underpowered considering the other components you are getting. Why not go for a Q9450?

8500 is good @ 3.6 to 3.8 which is pretty easy. The X3350 & Q9450 is hard to get the FSB past 450 so you are limited on you OC with the multi set at 8. If you are going to OC with air a good case is a good step for good temps. I would suggest a case with 4+ 120mm fans for good air flow that will not sound like a 747 at take off. So a good mobo for stable OC with the 8400 and a case with very good air flow with low noise and a TRUE 120 cpu cooler.

my 2 cents worth.
