I found a store that has one in stock finally - so im going to order today.

Before i do that though im just going to weigh up my options. I have four considerations right now.

Wait for the Hurc Radeon 9800 Card.
Get the Sapphire 9800.
Get the Sapphire 9700 All-In-Wonder.
Get the Sapphire 9700 Ultimate Edition.

Do you need a silent-running video card like the Sapphire Ultimate Edition? (You have a GeForceFX 5800 Ultra now, so the answer is no ;))

Do you need all the extras that the All-In-Wonder offers?

Are you likely to be overclocking the card to such an extent that the better cooling the Hercules 9800 Pro offers will be useful? (Bearing in mind the stock 9800 Pro and cooling overclocks very well)

Answer those questions, and you have your answer. :)

Is there any word on when the Herc card will be in stock? If it's not going to be too long, wait because it sounds like that's the card you really want. If it's going to be some weeks, and the money is absolutely burning a hole in your pocket, then get the Sapphire.

Ok the Ultimate Edition was because it looks quite nice, but really id take the AIW over it.

I dont need the features of the AIW right now but im going to have this card a while so its no doubt going to be dead handy in the future.

I do want a quiet card actually, the FX 5800 Ultra is a fine card - but i just made my system really quiet and now FXFlow is becoming an irriation. Other than that im pretty happy with it. :) It will be fun to test out the Radeon though as ill have insight into NVIDIA's product too. Lets just hope i dont decide the card i sold (decided to put the FX on ebay as i cant use both lol) was better.. ;)

Rip off the hsf and put on a waterblock...... nice and quiet then:D
Also clock like a mofo with the much improved cooling.

Well i kinda narrowed it down to

9700 PRO All-In-Wonder
9800 PRO Standard

:)

Decisions decisions... lol

Ok ok.. finally made a choice.

I went with the

Sapphire "The Beast" All-In-Wonder 9700 PRO :)

Should be here 2morrow :D lets face it the only reason i wanted 9800 was because it was 'faster' but its not like there is anything i want to play that the 9700 wont and losing features just to get a higher 3dmark score is silly - so i think i made the conservative choice here.

You got it yet?

Yeah, but unfortunatley all isnt peachy. :(

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11442

Unfortunatley im having issues - At least though I read about the problem the day after i ordered it (on rage3d) so at least when it happened i knew what it was hehe. Unfortunatley though no knowm 'fix' apart from changing mainboard/psu or making some kind of manual delay swtich. Im not faffing around with that so ive asked for an RMA with the company i ordered from.

Im going to give the 9800pro a go, if i have no luck with that im going to sit on my cash and wait for the NV35. :)

Shame that is this problem only applies for the Radeon 9700Pro AIW or all 9700's?

I have no idea. Which is why im not risking getting a standard 9700pro :/ if i could be sure it would work i would go for the Sapphire 9700pro Ultimate Edition (my 2nd choice) but it seems not worth the risk.

Its either a 9800pro or a 9700pro Silent Heat-Pipe. I think the chances of the 9800pro working are better than the 9700 lol.

In for a penny in for a pound - I would say go for the 9800 between the two... heh, why have less when you can have more :)

Aftering having play tested the retail ati 9800pro I picked up last week I doubt you'll be let down if you can get one to co-operate with your setup.

It truly is a beast of a card.
