I have recently set up video streaming from my laptop to my PS3 using Nero MediaHome. All of the files are in either WMV or AVI format. I have around 80 different video files but only 20 or so show up on the media network and only 1/2 of them work, the others I get an error (codes can be provided).

I have WMV enabled on the PS3.

Any idea why this might be? If there is a possibility that it is variations in the file types, what specific file type do you think is best? Also, is there any software out there that is specifically for converting videos for use on PS3?

Setup:
Dell XPS 1530 - Connected via wireless
Nero Ultra 8.
PS3 (fully upto date) - Connected via ethernet
BT Home Hub (fully upto date)

So far I have got pretty much all Xvid / Divx working.

It also seems to stream anything with a .mpg extension, most WMV (Some have no sound for some reason though.) and also it can actually play 720p MKVs no problem but you have to run them through mkv2vob first.

Mkv2vob is an absolute gem, it's made the PS3 my no.1 media unit now.

have you tried ts files?

try running MKV to ts container, vob really was never meant to hold h264 video, you can force it.
