Did anyone play this? It slipped under my radar completely. It's a pretty cool little game! It only takes up 600 megs installed, and installed in like 45 seconds. It's nothing but flying planes around on bombing runs, defend our ships in a fighter, and torpedo their ships for the most part, but it's really simple and fun, runs like a champ and looks pretty decent.

It has multiplayer, but I haven't found any servers. Should be a blast on LAN though. Think: Simplified BF1942 without the ground action. No more camping for a plane! I found it at Fry's a while back and just got around to playing it and was pleasantly surprised, but it's available on Steam (argh) for those of you into that sort of thing.

Best of all...NO STARFORCE, SECUROM or any other BS! Probably why it installs and runs so fast.

What about a first person view?

Looks good however I'm more of a in ****pit view over 3rd person view.

Nah, it's really simple and basic (this is no flight sim). If there is a way to change the view, I haven't found it yet. What it does, it does well, but there are no fancy options or controls. You just choose gamepad (configurable) or keyboard/mouse (not configurable, but there's really no need) and sensitivity, choose your resolution and like 2 or 3 graphic options and go shoot up Pappy Boyington.

I actually found it refreshing NOT to spend 2 hours tweaking settings for a change before I played. I'm running it at max settings, without depth of field (blur), 1680x1050, with 2x MSAA, 8x AF forced in my drivers and getting 100-120 FPS. Smooth as silk, no stutters, hitches, crashing, long load times, nothing. I think it's just a really nice little budget game. Surprisingly polished for such a game.

This is about all there is to configure:

Heroes of the Pacific, it's a 3rd person arcade WWII flight sim just like Attack on Pearl Harbor. I've got a soft spot for those types of games, picked up Pearl Harbor thru Steam a while back, and Heroes only cost me like $5 online and it's a great one too. Aces of the Pacific was that old classic flight sim by Microprose.

I'm going to check out Heroes of the Pacific too then! This one is cool, but I can't help thinking how much better it could be with a few more features/abilities, like being able to land and resupply, bail out, etc....and of course a kawkpit view!
