Just use opera. Much faster and more stable.

I guess I've been lucky. I've been using Firefox for years and I have very rarely had to use IE for anything. FF always works for me, and with AdBlock enabled, surfing is a lot less irritating than with IE.
+1

I only use IE7 for Windows Update.

Firefox looks outdated as well. Needs a big revamp.

If you didn't see any difference between Opera and FF, it was because you didn't take the time to look closely enough.

Oh I took the time. It's not really any faster than IE or FF for me, especially on a 16MB download circuit. I don't use bookmarks a ton, I just get on and surf. I usually don't go to places that have pop ups so that's not a problem either.

Gah, the memory bug is really annoying my FF Portable version. Jumps to 200MB+ in no time.

Any way to keep FFs memory usage down?

SeriTonin,

Then why didn't you just change the layout the way that you would have liked Opera?

Too lazy.

FF 2 got to me with mem issues and I started checking out the 3 betas some time ago. Seems that the new versions have an increasingly smaller footprint.

On my home machine, I use FF, my gf uses IE, and my daughter uses Opera. Not much need for extensions by any of us, at least at this point. Guess my browsing habits are too vanilla, lol.

Anyone try flock?

We have a few pages that run only with IE7...Have you tried the IETab extension? With one click you can have a tab rendered with the IE engine instead of FF, and you can set it to remember which sites you want rendered w/IE. If you haven't tried FF3b5, give it a shot; it's much improved over the beta4 version (which I almost quit using due to bugginess).

I don't know but it's a horrendous problem for me. I often work with around a dozen different tabs open and if I go to system resources, FF alone has eaten up well over 500~600 megs of my system memory. If I close all but one tab, guess what... still has all that ram used up :thumbdwn:

There must be something wrong on your end. I have 13 tabs open in this screenshot:
