Here's the deal - selling my gaming rig to friend - I ordered another 8800gtx BFG and Newegg mistakenly sent me a BFG 9800gtx OC -

I can either keep my current BFG 8800gtx from old rig and put the new 9800gtx OC in the old one for him (he's cool with that ) or keep for myself

I run at 2560x1600 but don't really care about turning on AA

I know from research it seems like most lean towards 8800gtx for that high of a res but I notice most also turn on some AA -

If I dont turn on AA for games like Age of Conan would it be better to use the new 9800gtx OC or keep my old 8800gtx (both BFG )

I'd say keep the 8800GTX, more vram 768MB vs. 512MB and 384 bit bus vs. 256 bit bus. The higher the resolution, the more memory you want. Keep the 8800gtx.

Thanks - kept leaning that way just noticed all the remarks about it being faster than the 9800gtx seemed to include AA and wondered if that was the kicker -

the 8800gtx runs AoC at 2560x1600 decently so definitely didnt want to step down speed wise and thats the only res I run at

If your running games at that res, then for sure use the 8800GTX.

Just was making sure what was general opinion here - misc random reviews seemed to suggest same thing -

Just bit hard to accept the year old card is still better than the brand new 9800gtx but I'll stick with the 8800 :)

like all the ppl who already replied, DON"T SUPPORT THE 9 SERIES lol... revenue from such a failed product line will make nvidia likel.y to repeat this again *shudder*

another vote for the 8800 GTX because of the extra memory and memory bus over the 9800GTX

Seconded.

There's a reason the 8800GTX still sells for $100 more than the 9800GTX.

I have a 8800GTX and I can't believe this card still wtfpwns 1.5 years later...

It's amazing, it's almost like Nvidia made a mistake by making it so good. Not even they can beat it by any considerable amount.

8800GTX all the way...

I agree with SeriTonin and some others in here

Do not waste your time with the 9800GTX...
Just keep your 8800GTX until something REALLY BETTER comes out

True. It's sad that ATI can't roll over them with a serious competitor.

On a brighter note, Nvidia has the longest reigning performance GPU ever created (I think). What an epic card.
