It runs just peachy on me GF4.

You do NOT need a DX9 card, you just need to have dx9 installed.

The game is pretty good. A definate Serious Sam clone/knock-off, but a good one. :)

Hey, I was quoting DriverHeaven.

They said it won't run on anything that isn't a DX9 videocard. Or have I just misread it?

1280x1024 AA and AF maxed, sometimes get a TAD choppy but well worth it.

Man, its really hard, but it is like serious sam, wiht more blood and gore : P, i really like how it renders the grahpics, and those catapults!

I am definatly buying this game, im a Big Serious Sam fan too!

Seems like a real step down from Serious Sam; worse graphics, worse gameplay. Still a good download if you pretend you've never played SS.

Figured I'd post here instead of starting a whole new thread. One of my friends at EB gave me the demo on CD to try. I just finished it and I have to say that Serious Sam kicks this game's you-know-what in every way, shape and form.

1) Graphics - No contest, Serious Sam wins hands down. Also, regardless of resolution and AA/AF settings, I was getting some pretty bad chop at points on my 9800. Sure doesn't look like this game was designed with ATI cards in mind.

2) Sound - Cheesy Sammy Hagar-esque rock at the title screens and the in-game effects are ripped straight out of Quake.

3) Gameplay - I will concde the catapults are way cool. But other than that, the gameplay doesn't feel as polished as it is in Serious Sam.

Overall, I give it 5/10. Maybe worth a look if you're a die-hard Serious Sam fan. Other than that, especially if it's priced like most PC games, skip it.

thanks for your input, i do consider my self a die hard serious sam fan, i make refrences to it in real life heh heh!

the game play wasent that bad, just the last part with the big open area in the middle of a building was just DUMB, the dam arrow guys just kept on poping up for like 30 min, no point to that.

also, the preorder is 25 witch is to much imho

Plus, there are way more configuration options for SS with respect to well...everything. That, and in SS you can play in widescreen which totally rules. :D

Man, I need to fire that up again. Long nights playing coop with my roommate in college were hella fun. I miss those days. :(

Oh yeah, the Serious Engine is a very good and can be configured alot!

What do you mean widescreen? can it be spanned across 2 monitors like Quake3? If so can you point me to a guide how to do it, Friday when my second lcd monitor comes, muhahahaha.

as I showed before, the Will Rock demo plays pretty smooth (on my tv) with a GF2ti OC'ed a little on my tv, @ 8x6, 2XAF/AA, tex. sharpen, mipmaps etc. set to medium... oh, and on a *stocker* kt266a/T-Bird 1.4 setup to boot...

Methinks the final version will have have the kinks worked out...

I give it a 6.2522 stars (outta 10) thus far... I'm hoping it's at least a 7.323888 when it's in stores, so I don't have to spend $19.99 on something else...:D

(it is gonna be one o them "cheaper" games, right?);)

here's a shot of it on my htpc a few weeks ago...

I think it's going to be $25 at release. Which is still too much considering Serious Sam was/is cheaper and IMO, better.

Serious Sam SE finished with about 5000 kills

and that not even on the most difficult level :D

GlowStick

I just played the demo, and everyone here is correct. The demo is dull. All the elements of Serious Sam are there in a poorer condition. The weapons, the level design, the way enemies spawn, its all worse and just plain boring.

The absolute worst thing though, is they way the mouse sensitivity changes during game play. I tried tweaking it, but it never feels right and actually changes during play.

The AI is the same as SS though. It goes like this:
If enemy can see player then
move toward player if mobile
attack player
endif

The game also makes you do a bit of platform jumping and footwork, which is ALWAYs bad for a FPS.
