What does a typical gpu get in the extreme test?

Someone said a single GX2 gets about half that.

hmm...2 threads -.-.

Moment this thing hits the street..i am buying it ><...

SLI on these...is gonna be such an overkill..even maybe for Crysis...which is fantastic.
At 2560x1600 there is no such thing as overkill, i doubt even a Quad 280 would run Crysis DX10 very-high @ 60 fps.
On my setup it runs at 0.5 fps.

This (http://www.youtube.com/trubritar) gets X8514. Dual GX2's, skulltrail, dual QX9770's, 8Gb RAM, etc, etc..

So I would think a single CPU and card would get 5k max.

If you goto the orb jAkUp's rig scores 8100 in that test. I would agree 5K is probably the max for a single card, stock clocked it might be closer to 4K.

Looks like nvidia skipped the 8800 refresh to a 9800 fully, and released the GX2 as a stop gap and put more effort into a genuine technology leap.

Kudos to them for not pushing marginally better products on us, at a premium. I love it when nvidia go and make a huge leap, but it also happens just after I get comfy with a rig.

I wouldn't get too happy w/nVidia just yet, while this could finally be the solution we all wanted, it could also be another FX5800, I've got some money put away for this beast though, we'll see if she's everything we hoped.

If the hardware is based on the G8x architecture, then it's going to be no where near another FX5800. Unless they drastically change the architecture in the worst possible way, I don't see how improvements to the architecture could suddenly create another Nv3x in terms of shading power.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for to upgrade from my 8800 Ultra SLI setup.

250W power consumption? That is over 53W higher than the GX2.

I wonder what temps its running at, GX2 at 70c idle is a joke.
What is your fan running at 45% default? At 100% one card idles at 47C, and the other 52C for me.

My 8800GTX runs at 76C idle with the fan at 100%, so 70C sounds more than reasonable. EVGA told me that the 8800GTX cards are safe up to 120C, and that mine was actually running cooler than most.

My gx2 idles at 55c and load at 70c. Running at 720/1900/2200.

You need some more airflow in your case. My cards idle at 67C and 72C with the fans at only 60%. At 100% one is hitting 59C the other is at 62C. I'd say the room temp is about 78F right now.
