Hoping for Lakers / Celtics finals but every time I watch the Celtics play I wonder how they got so far and won so many games.[/QUOTE]
The Celtics look like this at times because their coach is so bad. IMO he is clueless about adjustments, clock management and just playing his best players. The reason they win is because of Garnett and Pierce, who take turns willing the team to victory. Can they win it all? I think they can, but Pierce and Garnett are going to have to drag them there.
Fisher bumped Barry as he was dribbling before he took the shot, and Barry went into him to try and create contact. This is the final seconds of a major NBA playoff game. You shouldn't get bitch calls like that in the final seconds. You either make the jumper or miss it. Now if Barry would have straight pulled up and Fisher clobbered him in the air, the of course it would be a foul, but in the words of Kobe Bryant: "No Foul."
No he didn't. Fisher jumped into the air and landed on Barry. Barry was knocked backwards at first then side stepped to get a shot off. That was no bump, it was a foul in any league from pewee to pros. Should have been 2 free throws before the 3 point shot.

It's a bitch call. You don't get bitch calls in the final seconds of the game. Maybe if the first three quarters yes, but when it's the final seconds you gotta prove you can knock down a shot.
The league agrees that a a 2 shot foul should have been called.
The league office on Wednesday reviewed the final play of the San Antonio Spurs' 93-91 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals and acknowledged that a two-shot foul should have been called on Derek Fisher for impeding Brent Barry.
"With the benefit of instant replay, it appears a foul call should have been made," league spokesman Tim Frank said Wednesday.

Even Brent Barry himself said a foul shouldn't have been called.
Even Brent Barry himself said a foul shouldn't have been called.
He's just being PC because he knows any bitching or moaning about it will just result in fines or what not for talking bad about the refs.
The NBA has a big problem with officiating besides the gambling scandal. Many players get preferential calls based on their star status, calls are made differently based on what stadium the games are played in, conspiracy theories about the league wanting certain teams to advance etc etc etc.
That people already find it acceptable that foul calls that are made all game long should not be made in the last few seconds of a game because it might change the outcome of a game, shows how bad it is.
The game should be called as consistently, evenly and as fairly as possible all the time, period.

Good for the league. I wonder if they are also going to release a statement saying that there should have been no 24 second violation because Fisher's shot hit the rim, while we're at it, might as well look up Duncan's travel earlier in the game and Kobe dragging his feet near the end too.

Barry moved into Fisher. That's when the contact occured.
Barry caught the ball, Fisher jumped, Barry then moved into Fisher. But, IF the 24 second violation had not been pending because Fisher's shot had hit the rim the previous play, there would have been no issues with what happened on the last play.
One missed call deserves another.

this is stupid.
Referee's aren't perfect. These guys need to stop being babies about this "foul". Brent Barry didn't have a snowballs chance in hell at pulling off that shot, even wide open. There were MANY bad calls in the game.
NBA referee's have the HARDEST ref position of ANY popular sport. I quite honestly see more calls the refs made that were RIGHT that I NEVER saw, even just watching on TV!(which is easier to see the floor). I can't count the number of times I saw a play on TV that I was thinking "what a BS call" only to see the replay and it showing that the ref was right. Again, referee's aren't perfect. The Spurs lost and good riddens. Accept it and move on.
I can't stand the Spurs and could care less about them.
The entire game was called poorly especially the last few minutes. That doesn't change what happened on the last play. Barry was fouled and refs swallowed their whistle probably as a make up for the bad calls earlier.

But you see it does change things. NBA refs have a habit of reversing bad calls by calling a bad call on another team, or making a no call. I mean, Kobe not going to the free throw line the entire game? Yeah right...
Oh, and I agree with you Tyger...There are alot of times when I think a foul has occurred and get pissed, only to have to admit after the replay that the ref got it right!

Spurs are out of the NBA playoffs. Thank you God. Thank you Lakers.
Up until this point, when people compared Kobe to Jordan, I shrugged it off as hogwash. But after what I saw tonight (Kobe put on a clinic in the 4th quarter when it counted), I think it has a little merit. Hats off to you Kobe. That was amazing.
Now all the celtics have to do is win and we'll have an epic finals matchup :D
-edit-
Btw, I am doing pretty good on my predictions so far ;)

MVP: Kobe Bryant
Defensive MVP: Marcus Camby
Rookie: Kevin Durant
6th Man: MAAANOOOO GEEENOOOBLEEEEEE
Coach: Doc Rivers
Biggest Upset Team: Orlando Magic honestly. No one expects a team to beat Boston or Detroit, they may do it.
Easter Conference: Detroit/Celtics
Western Conference: Spurs/Lakers
Finals: Lakers/Celtics (how awesome would that be )
Champions: Lakers
MVP: Kobe

Woohoo! Lakers are heading to the Finals. I'm so glad the Spurs are out of the picture.
As for the Kobe and Michale comparison, I think it's a good one now. Michael will always be on a pedestal, but it's about time someone reaches his level. I think they are equally good in their own ways. Kobe finally reached that level methinks, and if not, he's pretty close to it.

Kobe's not as good as Jordan in his prime yet, and probably never will be. That said, he's CLEARLY the best player in the world right now.

GO ****ING LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed.
And Kobe's been the best player in the world for about 3 odd years now, undisputed.
Lebron will have his day, unless the NBA actually decides to enforce travelling calls on him, in which case he's probably going to achieve Vince Carter like flash-greatness for a few years and then fade away, but I think he'll be fine.

not happening. And with good merit. Lebron MIGHT take an extra step every now and then, but the entertainment factor of him playing WELL makes up for it.

Him playing well?
He uses brute strength and that is it. If he is allowed to travel, guys like Shaq and Tim Duncan (not withstanding that ridiculous non-call in game 4 when he strode in from the 3 point line) would have a field day.
It would be vastly more entertaining seeing him putting up shots from the mid-range like Jordan and Kobe have done and are doing. Seeing him take 4 steps to the basket and barge into someone, getting a +1 is absolutely daft. It does not take skill to do that.

LeBron honestly isn't that entertaining. He's alright, but not nearly on the level of Kobe, Jordan, or Nash.

LOL!
Wow. Did you really just put that old boring player in the same sentence as Kobe and Jordan? I don't even know what to say.

Obviously he's nowhere near as good, but entertainment wise he's incredibly fun to watch. Fast breaks, layups, alley-oop dunks, circus passes, circus shots, etc. What's more fun that that? Seeing boring ass LeBron muscle his way in for an easy shot? I don't think so.
