Hmm the 9450 will be phased out & replaced by a 9400 :confused: isn't that kinda weird ? i mean dropping to a lower number ?

Looks like they're shaking up the entire line for the most part. Some good looking pricing though.

I'm not sure, but i remember some intel roadmaps in one of those asian sites, showing a desktop Nehalem with 4 cores & 2 threads, and a server Nehalem with 8 cores & 2 threads. The server version was using FB-DIMM, and the desktop version triple channel DDR3.

WTF phasing out their Q9450 and Q9300, which are rare to begin with although shipment has increased for the Q9300 which is a little easier but still over priced.

Just a server chip, but when will 6, or 8 cores be the norm for desktop use? I don't think in 20 years or more.

I do like this bit about the dual cores thou..

For dual-core CPUs, Intel will launch the Core 2 Duo E8600 at 3.33GHz and US$266, and will phase out the Core 2 Duo E8300. The company will also drop pricing for the Core 2 Duo E8500 and E8400 from US$266 and US$183 to US$183 and US$163, respectively.

E8600 &4GHz anyone.. :)

the Q9550 is dropping to the current Q9450 price, so they'll be as cheap as they are now, just a little bit faster...
