There was beta driver with cuda enabled for 8800 series cards , but it might not be publicly available anymore.

Better question is.... who cares? It's not needed for anything out there right now. NVIDIA always talked up the possibility of 8800's accelerating physics, but they only recently acquired the Physx brand, so give it time.

I don't think the question is why we want it, the fact of the matter is we paid good money for these cards and they said they were going to give it to us (that could be a reason why someone bought Nvidia) and we haven't seen much. Not a big deal in practicality, but more so for the principle behind the fact.

Seriously, who need to ask what is it for ?!! i want dev teams start to walk on new territory.

The software renderer yes, but not hardware. They **Could** support it if they choose, but most are just opting for software.

Actually, if you own an 8 series, you bought the card WITHOUT any mention of "Physix". Thus, if they don't include it, you are not out anything at all. Now if your talking about "Quantam Effects", then you may have a legit gripe...
