So ive been playing WoW for afew weeks now, still pretty new to it ... with AoC just releases ive been thinking about swapping over to AoC while im still only in my early lvl stages in WoW, whats peoples views on AoC compared to WoW? ... i do like WoW but it would be good to swap to a game that's just been released and getting the chance to lvl up nice and early.(i like being a veteran old timer in games)

Basically how does AoC compare to Wow? witch of the two in your opinion is best? witch game yould you choose? Aoc or WoW?

WoW is more polished, has far more content, is friendly to newbies, and provides players with several character progression options. Age of Conan is brand new so it has some balance issues and design flaws, but it has potential to be a much better game overall, taking many lessons from previous MMORPGs. Also, the lore is a lot cooler and far less "pulp fantasy" than WoW. It's up to your own personal tastes. I played WoW regularly for 4 years and cancelled my account recently - I haven't looked back since AoC came out. :)

After playing WoW for a couple years AoC is a nice change. They are both good I just played WoW for too long and got bored with it. With AoC though I'm loving the gore and adult content. Definetly more realistic and not as cartoonish as WoW is.

I would stick with WoW if you only just started, it has more to offer for new players, I would sit and wait on AoC till things get tweaked and polished.

If your wanting to try something that just been released then you can give AoC a try, but keep in mind not even WoW had its end game content in after release.

You will be more than ok. The only change I made to my system in my specs below is adding 2 more gigs of ram. I have a slightly better video card, but you have a better processor. I can't give you FPS, since it runs so butter smooth that I havn't bothered (except a few hitches when you first zone into an area, but that seems common in today's mmos. It has way less hitching than Vanguard did.) I'll check my FPS tonight. Anyway, after the previous verbose text I will go out on a limb and say you will be fine...

**EDIT** Didn't notice your resolution. I can't speak to that, since I'm only running at 1440x900...Someone else here should be able to give advice about that.

I play wow @ 1920x1440 ... with all the eye candy at the highest, if i could play aoc at least 1600x1200 with a little eye candy i would be happy, i dont really play a game thinking of FPS... as long as the game runs fine, smooth ect then im happy.

Hows the community in AoC compared to WoW? WoW's sucks unless you know people ingame. If your just starting out for the most part its hard to get groups and run with other people.

Is AoC very group focused?

It's a good balance of group and solo. Basically just like any other MMO...If you want the good equipment or want to roll people over in PvP, group up.

@ the OP: Find a buddy pass for AoC and try it for yourself.

If you start on one of the new servers in wow, youll find alot of people leveling up that you can group with. trying to level on an old server will cause you to level alone alot of the time.

WoW is great for anyone starting out.. and AoC is great for anyone who is getting burnt out on wow but NEED to be playing an mmo. ;)

Couldn't tell you, I'm still (for the most part) doing the single player portion...My Demonologist is only 16! That is unheard of for me (to go that slow), but my family has undergone a problem or two since launch :(

to the guy considering selling his WOW account on e-bay....be warned, your account will probably be banned as Blizzard regularly checks e-bay auctions as their EULA prohibits transferring ownership of an account through sale. I'd recommend markeedragon.com for a more discreet medium of sale, though beware of scammers as that site is flooded with them (though there are many legitimate people as well).

edit: more on topic, I played WoW regularly sine release until recently. Overall, it is a good game, though IMO not worth getting into at this point of time, when a fresh and promising game like AoC just came out. I'm currently a lvl 26 Barbarian on Deathwhisper and can say that the PVP in AOC is more fun, sporadic, and seems more skill based, even at low levels. The quest system IMO is also a lot easier than WoW, which may be a good or bad thing pending the player.

The equivalent to a WoW "normal" server in AOC would be simply "PvE", which never forces a player to participate in PVP, though gives him the option to. I play on a PvP server which is basically free for fall, though I've found that there isn't too much griefing going on. If you played normal in WoW, I'd recommend PvP in Age of Conan for the change of gameplay style :) but PvE if you don't like getting randomly killed, or randomly killing people. There's also Culture-PVP which limits PVP to other races (your own race being an ally).

I play on Deathwhisper which is probably the highest populated server, 9/10 times I have to wait 2-3 minutes to be able to load in as there is almost always a queue because the server is "full".

When is the last time WOW got any new servers? My 4 toons are on Lethon and the population is awful for a newer server. (<2 years old)

I currently have a 21 Priest of Mitra and so far its blowing WOW out of the water. I did get aggravated and rerolled to a PVE server though. I just couldn't handle the ganking in the Underhalls which seemed nonstop.

Well ive been playing for a while, almost at lvl 6 .. must say im glad i switched from wow to aoc, the gfx are great compared to wow, i much prefer the way the combat is in aoc to wow & i love the blood and gore, not a childish game ... played for a while then got a message that the the servers where going down for maintenance lol.

Im playing the same at 1200 x 1600 with x4 AA and the view distance/sliders at a around half way ... seem to get 40 - 50 FPS most of the time.

For those who are currently playing WoW. Stick with WoW. It is a far better game than AoC. AoC is horrible. The crashing, the bug where you lose a level when you log out and the gold farmers are beyond bearable. Don't wast your time with this game. You will only wish you never left WoW.

Now for those AoC game-rs. We don't want more WoW players coming to our beloved game and screwing it up. The last thing I want to see in OOC chat is more Murloc crap. We don't want this game over populated. We want just enough people to make it profitable for AoC so they will release more content and big enough to have a good base from which to have massive siege battles. : D
