Ahh, thought this would be the 256MB card, but it is probably this...

Yep, and I find it highly annoying. I was sort of waiting for the NV35, but the idea of having a fair/high-performing card that is always dead-silent is... tempting.

My life just got harder :)

I agree with Rwolf, its probly their 9700pro with the Zalman heatpipe cooler, it would make it silent.... and a partner.........

just look @ the cloth on the card... it lifts up to the shape of what appears to be the massive copper cooler like on the 9700pro ultimate thinger they have..

it could well be a 256mb silent version... that would be kewl :)

but its definitely the silent heatsink :) the shape is pretty obvious...

Yeah, i think they can use the cooler on 9800's 128 and 256versions!

9800P + 256MB DDR1 + Zalman?
I rather be realistic when it comes to DDR2, but who knows?

hey those more informed about 3d etchnology then i am, if the memory was clocked at the same speed as the 128 MB version, would another 128MB even improve performance?

Yes. In situations where video memory is needed. High resolution in conjunction with high res textures and FSAA, for example.

stealth another question, i had thought that even games like ut2003 at 1600 res didnt use more then 128 mb at a time, and i thought when u added AA it doesnt store it in the frame buffer, just processes it in real time, am i wrong?

what do u think would be the most likely perf increase over the 128 mb version?

there are settings... supposedly in ut2k3 that utilise 160mb in textures... and this would perform well with a 256mb card :)

apparently epic will release a patch to unlock this setting when 256mb cards able to play this 'ultra' setting are released...

I am sure more people will shed light on this... I am not a big fan of ut2k3...

They are going to try and rain on the NV35 release.
But it's not going to work.
Everyone wants to see if Nvidia can rebound from the 30's down falls. They are going to get eat up by the press if the 35 is a hit and kicks butt. :)

Tho I'm sure the 256meg 9800 is going to be a bad@ss to. :)

I'm kinda like hellbinder on this one. He said the 35 was going to kill the 9800 because ati did not clock it were it needed to be.
425+ core with 400 memory.
Yes the 9800 will overclock to that but all the reviews will be stock clock to stock clock.
I guess he was right again. :D  :p hehehe

Ati still has yet to port R350 into 0.13 so i wouldnt be surprised seeing that to counter the NV35

When will ATI launch their own ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB card?

Probably the same day (give or take a few) that nvidia announces the NV35.

It's a good PR move that need not be missed.

If that dose happen, that would be truely amazeing!

I think id have to go pick one up myself. Looks sweet.

Also, it seems that x86 secret and a few other places seem to have the boards already! Would make sence, maybe sites are under nda but are getting reviews ready.
