Seriously is EVGA retarded? Why would they even release this? And a stock clocked GPU - its water cooled???

Retarded, with GT280 coming in like 2 weeks the 9800GX2 will be EOL. I had one, it had alot of problems - heat, stuttering, low dips in FPS... I can't believe they even took the time to make a block and try to sell this overpriced beast.

I wouldn't say EVGA is stupid, but rather trying to capitalize with accessories for this card. You and I are in the exact same boat, I too had this card (for 4 days) and had to get rid of it, as the stuttering and low FPS dips were through the roof.

And the price will drop soon enough so plenty of people will scoop them up.

The 2x 9800GX2's that I run in Quad have not givin me any problems. Maybe you guys have driver problems or something ?

Mine went into a fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64 and have been running great.

Yea, and that fixes low framerate dips how? lol. I played with Vsync, like Newls1 the low dips were awful. A few games had very bad stuttering in XP32, Vista 64 with about 14 reinstalls and every of the latest drivers available. GOW, RS Vegas 2 were among the worst they would actually stop at parts and pause for like 5 seconds while textures loaded to both cards. it wasnt the game becuase both run great with the 8800GTX I have now. I believe the 256-bit memory bus and 512MB usable memory killed the GX2 by holding it back and creating problems for it.

I ended up going with an EVGA 8800 flashed a nice OC and water cooled it. Funny thing is that Crysis ran wonderful with the 9800 GX2. Low FPS was 24, avg was 44 and high was 77that was well overclocked too. So with the 8800 GTX I have, specs in sig I get 34 low, 42 avg, 55 high. 2 less average and a much higher low. I'm happier not dealing with profiles, crap performance, and the heat. But to each his own.

I just find it retarded they waited till 2 weeks from the launch of something that is gonna smoke everything else out there and NOW decide to release a water cooled card. Add to that stock GPU core speeds and yes, its fn retarded.

I have had no problems at all with my card on Vista x64. No stuttering, no framerate dips. The only things I don't like about it are the heat and the fan noise (even though it isn't TOO horrible).

Play GOW or RS Vegas 2.

Much like the current crop of cards out ther, the 9xxx series won't disappear overnight. I never jump on a new series right away, I usually wait for a refresh product, so there will still be a market for these GPUs.

Well its not like they are cheap either though. The new cards will smoke these, just stupid to release an overpriced thing like this so close to the release of the new cards. They should've done this at launch.
