I uninstalled my x-fi and I think it took ffdshow with it somehow leaving me with creative ffdshow codecs installed with 0 file size ,ran DCP a few times and CCleaner
Uninstalled and reinstalled vista codec pack a few times and it didn't help but the next day did the same and it was back.:headexplode:
I still don't have the toolbar icon even though I allowed it on my recent boot.

I ran Installedcodec and Im sure it was listed but my eyes may have been crooked
come to think about it I was probably looking at the ac3 filter as my dvd's had no sound in gom, another issue.

when it comes to AC3, FFDSHOW can also decode AC3
keep in mind that ffdshow is one decoder that supports lots of formats, and that you need to make sure the internal association window has the codec initials you want supported to use the ffdshow library .
