vista 64bit has 2 WMP, a 32bit (default app) and 64bit. it also only has 64bit Media Center and Explorer.

so, if you only gonna use 32bit WMP, winmap or other 32bit playback machines then you only will need 32bit codecs like Vista Codec Pack.

if you want to use 64bit WMP, Media Center, or have thumbnail support in Explorer, then you will also need Vista Codec Pack x64 components.

for instance with MKV files, to get thumbnails to work and playback to work, I have halli spliter set up to do thumbnail and work, while Gabest does 32bit playback.

I use both and work well but i have a movie not sure what odec it uses but the movie is smashed together like when its a widescreen u see the movie but its like they tool the horizontle and moved it to center smashing the video from side to side.

I thought it was Divx but the movie does it on all systems.
