Isn't the GTX 280 going to be bottlenecked by the rest of the system?

1920 x 1200.
It says it near the end of the article in the "Price stings worse" paragraph. We can't tell for sure if it's High or Very High (they say High but maybe it's a mistake ? At least i hope so) or if they used AA/AF though.

I wanted to use the step up program to upgrade from the 9800GTX to the GTX260 but looking at the bench of the GTX280 i'm not so sure it would be worth it considering that the 260 is going to be slower. I still have a lot of time on my 90 days step up program though so ill just wait for the real benchs and take a decision after i guess.

Let's hope they meant very high with AA / AF. I know I've tested my 8800GTX SLI before with 1920 x 1200 4x AA / 16x AF with high settings and it will get over 30fps. That's on stock clocks. It will be interesting to see them compared 8800GTX and 8800U SLI to this card and see which performs better.

Also card didnt exhaust any hot air inside case.

Default 2D clock is 300Mhz GPU, 600Mhz Shader clock, 200Mhz for memory, 45C idling.

EDIT.: looks like overclocking is working just fine thru rivatuner, also 2D/3D clock switching works nicely.

Not to mention what kind of AA/AF they were running ..

the article says 1920x1200 on high, doesn't say aa or af thoughit says 4x AA in the small print at the bottom. I cant make out what it says about the AF though.

Good spot, it looks like 16x AF to me.

It says all games were run on "high" settings, but this could mean highest available for the game or it could mean... high.

About fan noise in 3D, you can hear fan speed up, but nothing annoying, also when i watched fps in 3d mark 06 test i can say that compared to two 8800GTX .. min.fps looks better on GTX 280 while max fps were better on two GTX.

Vantage is next

Mmm, 16K is not what i expected. Especially not with an E8400 @ 4GHz.

I thought it would score around 18K.

But hey; 3DMark06 is way too old (and light) to really test this card's capabilities. :D

Can you run it with 4xAA or 8xAA and 16xAF? And maybe @ an higher resolution too?
