Well the X2 is technically Xfire...so is it comparing a GTX280 in SLI or just GTX280 Single Card...

Actually, rumor is that it isn't just Xfire, its some new sort of GPU sharing, but we'll see, it could just be a rumor.

I see this card has an 8-pin and 6-pin power plug. Will there be a way to get an adapter from an exisiting 6-pin? I have an Enermax Galaxy 1000W so I know its got enough juice as its currently powering 2x8800GTX cards.

lets hope some game benchmarks surface soon!

So what will happen if we only use 2x 6-pin connectors on the GTX 280? Will we still be able to use it without overclocking?

I donno, technically a 6 pin slot can only use a maximum of 75w. 2x6 pin a 75w + the card slot power at 75w = 225w total power using 2x6. GTX 280 is rumored to have a TDP of 236w+, so I dont think it would work, but I'm not sure how a 8 pin to 6 pin cable works. If it sends 8 pins worth of power over 6 pins, then it would be fine. If it downgrades to 6 pins max power, there could be a problem.

Make of it what you will. This was from that ORB guy at another message board. It was blurred out, but using PS, it's back to normal.

Here, I resized and sharpened it some more.

Not real impressive, but it looks more realistic than some of the numbers we've seen. :p

It's inline with what I've been hearing. But those graphs don't show any ingame settings though. Games that use more than 512 megs of ram would show a significant advantage on the 1 gig GTX280. It also would depend on the scaling of the 9800gx2.

Crysis at Very High can use more than 512 megs and so does a few other games in that list at resolutions of 1600x1200 and above.

From that graph looks like at 1600x1200 4xAA 16AF @ Crysis GTX 280 gets over 40 close to 50 and GX2 gets 30.
Well not very impressive but it does floor regular GTX or Ultra.

Eh? A ~60% improvement in Crysis is impressive IMO. Older titles with less complicated rendering algorithms always fail to show the true benefit of new GPUs.

Those benchmarks might of been done using "HIGH" settings. The improvements could be much more if you use "Very High" settings.

Hmm not bad .. thats like from 30fps --> 45fps improvement. (50%)

it would be nice if thats @very high.

Yeah, plus it's 50% improvement without any SLI too ;)

I think that the old games need more bandwidth than shading power, and 2x times more shading power, with only a 40% higher bandwidth ... it's not going to run our fav old games fine at 1920x1200 yet :(

No, actually he did. By telling me to learn to read graphs. I just told that other guy to read the thread as we already went through the mistake i did and it was sorted out already. I don't need to hear from some random guy that i need to learn how to read graphs, the guys here already told me what i missed. Stop stalking me ffs...

Lost planet gets a nice 70-80% improvement too over the gx2, pretty damn impressive. Looks like the card will shine in future games.

The graphs scale is 20, so it looks like roughly 28 vs 45FPS to me, still quite good at around 60% improvement. So it should play Crysis fine at 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF, just not sure if that's very high/DX10.
