That's not always true. Ultra Shadow was an Nvidia proprietary feature which was used in games(first in demos). Also, HDR FP16 rendering was included in games before both competitors had the capability to do it.

3dc was actually used in Serious Sam 2 and Far Cry before Nvidia supported it. In any case, this is getting OT. :D

If its connected to the rest of the card its probably used as a heatsink and the fan will pull air out from under it.

I think a lot of news site are talking rubbish about both the GT200 and R700 series of Graphics card. I think we just have to wait and see what happens in the upcoming weeks when they are released.
