I am guessing a 3 year old came up with that design.

It will be interesting this time. I want to see 4870 vs 280GTX, also 4870X2.

What is this thing with people and handling of video cards by CPUs? You're buying the video card for faster graphics. If you're graphics limited (the reason for buying the video card in the first place) then the CPU doesn't matter... In any heavy CPU limited scenario, it won't matter what video card you have anyway... Unless you intend to run all games at 640x480, thus making the CPU hold you back from reaching 200fps! Does it really matter if your old Core 2 Duo can push 45 fps vs the new Core 2 Duo that can push 60fps ? Both are perfectly playable... And when the card can pull only 30fps in a game, guess what, the CPU makes no difference, both systems will perform at 30fps...

Well, with a price of 5000 dkr(aprox. 1000$) it better be one hell of a card.

So was that 34 fps at 1650 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200? And I do hope they meant very high instead of high. ;)

Looking at the heading on the benchmark thing its says 1600x1200 (red) 2560x1200 (black).

Is it just me or does the last resolution look screwy (typo).

well 1600x1200 V high W/AA AF?

i mena i read that HD4850 in SLI blows 280GTX out of the water donīt know itf it is true but still

i mean i can go quad HD4850 for the price of one 280GTX and that says alot i mean over 5K for a single 280gtx thatīs like 15K for a TRi SLI=sucks and that will be Nvidias boomer for the ramining 2008 ATI will get a big bite out on Nvidia this time around

I don't think we know any concrete info on the 4850 to even remotely make such a claim.

Meh... not bad, but not worth my $500.

I'll wait for the next release if this is how this thing performs across the board.

Same, I think my 8800 can hold out for a while longer :D

1920 x 1200.
It says it near the end of the article in the "Price stings worse" paragraph. We can't tell for sure if it's High or Very High (they say High but maybe it's a mistake ? At least i hope so) or if they used AA/AF though.

I wanted to use the step up program to upgrade from the 9800GTX to the GTX260 but looking at the bench of the GTX280 i'm not so sure it would be worth it considering that the 260 is going to be slower. I still have a lot of time on my 90 days step up program though so ill just wait for the real benchs and take a decision after i guess.

Well this is the most concrete evidence of the GTX280s' performance that I've seen yet. Seems that it is on par with a 9800GX2, give or take a few FPS until we get to the highest resolutions, where the GTX starts to pull away. Not a bad upgrade for anyone coming from a single gpu videocard:)

The GTX280 has the added advantage of having a full 1GB of Mem while the GX2 is stuck with 512, which will help those high ress/aa people, thats why you can see the >1FPS thing on all the other cards, but the GTX280 manages to get ahead in the min fps.

I still would have loved to see the 8800GTX or Ultra in the list of comparisons too.

Its good to see that the GTX280 can match a SLI setup though...and probably be even more faster.

Im a bit less excited about getting a GTX280. Ill wait for more benchmarks but I may end up getting some 4870s while I wait for 2 R700s or the gt200b
