Man these can't be right..look at the vantage score at the bottom:http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/Radeon_HD_4850_%28RV770PRO%29_Tested/5829.html P6466? That can't be done on extreme settings.

No that Performance setting. Wow what a massive disappoint score.

A 3870 score slight faster with P7069.

I thought 4850 is around near the speed of 3870X2's P12xxx score so that not the case. I think the 4800 series is aiming cost reducing, not exactly next generation performance.

AMD is dooming, what the hell they are doing?

AMD doesn't have the budget that Nvidia has. They're slowly dying unfortunately. :(

I dont know what you're smoking, but my 8800GTX only scores about ~6500, and I know its faster than a 3870.

Heres a quote from B3D:

8800GTX was P6417 at 625 core / 1500 shader / 1000 mem clocks from a user on [H] w/ a quad at 3.2

So in Vantage at those settings, 4850 ~ 8800GTX

Also, the 9800 GTX appearantly only scores P5851:

Seems fairly good to me, considering 4850 is supposed to be a $200 card.

Well I seen average scores of P8xxx on Q6600s with Geforce 8800GTX and P9xxx on Q9450s.

This one score P9819 on Q9450 with Geforce 8800GTX both at default clock speed, it faster than a overclocked 3870 with Q9450 at default clock speed score P7069.

Also found Q9450 with Geforce 9800GTX both not overclocked score P9181.

Those compare links also say that they are "linked display adapters", the ORB search is sort of broken, because I did a similar search for single cards, and still got SLI results. The specs in my sig only got me a P11500 score, so I would assume a single 8800 or 9800 GTX would be in the 6000-7000 range. This HD4850 is most likely faster, as the CPU clock was probably low.

Thank for point it out, the database is in mess. Guess the 4850 on par with 3870 and Geforce 8800GTX as it cost much cheaper to produce.

Not bad! P64xx is on par with what a single 8800GTX can achieve. i'm interested more on the 4870 though.

The information Fudzilla got are much clearer about 4850 performance number on 2.5GHz Phenom, it scored slight over P5000.

http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7674&Itemid=1

To compare with 3870 on 2.5GHz Phenom scored P4901.

http://service.futuremark.com/resultComparison.action?compareResultId=134441&compareResultType=19

So 4850 is on par with 3870, Geforce 8800GTX and 9800GTX, 4870 will not be as fast as 3870X2.

That's not exactly good for ATI if accurate, the HD2000 series was supposed to compete with Geforce 8, and here we are on the HD4000 series and they've only just surpassed that mark... I hope game performance is better.

If the 4870 surpasses the 9800GTX by an average of 25% or more I will be happy. 4850 I'm expecting to be on par.

More info, this from B3D:

Taken from ITOCP, read with salt. Pepper recommended

4850 Vantage P5847, X2609

On the same platform, a 9800GTX does P5816, X2104

Awesome results there. Lets hope these results actually translates into games. The 4850 will be a great buy then.
