Would building a SLI ready PC but not doing SLI right away have any disadvantages to a single card PC? In other words, I want to do SLI (two 9***GT) in the future but can't afford it right away.

Well everyone seems to have issues with the 690 boards, but the newer ones seem less problematic. I have a 590 amd sli board that has been trouble free except loosing two usb ports for almost two years now.

If you are planning sli there really isn't a choice thou..

I've lost at least one usb port on every SLI board I've owned..weird.

Just my humble input, my rig plays everything I throw at it just fine. When threads about SLI problems become the exception rather than the rule...I may go back.

But to answer your question, no. No disadvantage to a single card in an SLI ready board.
