Subject sums it up.

Quadro FX 2000

After I install drivers and restart.. Everytime windows goes to load it freezes as it trys to load up. I have tried many driver versions but they all have the same effect.. 10 mins is a very long time to wait. Does anyone know what might be going on?

using a MSI 655 HT. Yeah its a POS MB.. new one in the mail.

Oh and the bios is updated as well..

Has anyone had this problem with any Nvidia card? Is it defective? What were your solutions to the problem.

Without the drivers just using regular VGA it loads into windows Fine and dandy.. PNY who makes the card has yet to respond to 2 phone calls and 3 emails..

Also does anyone know if there is a newer card that will be quadro coming out in the weeks to come?

Thanks
Count

Hmmmmm. Does this happen in all the drivers you have tried? Can you boot into safe mode at all?

We need this info to help you out.

1.) What Operating System?
2.) Is this the first time using the card?
3.) Have you recently installed something prior to this happening?

I think Nvidia is releasing another Quadro FX when the NV35 gets announced at the E3 show. How much did you fork out for your Quadro FX 2000?

It has happened to me with my Radeon 9700 Pro before... I just formatted and everything was perfectly fine.

Is your machine POSTing? Do you see anything on screen at all? And does it make any beeping noises at startup?

It could be that you haven't seated the card properly or that it isn't getting enough juice to power up properly.

As Solomon said, we need more machine info.

Hmmmmmm. Are you transplanting a new motherboard from a previous one? If you are. Windows XP hates that.

I know when you swap out a motherboard and put it back in that is a different board the computer never seems to get past the splash screen. Sometimes it doesn't even go to the splash screen.

Give us some more info and will help ya the best we can.

First off. Everything is brand new.

First I installed Windows XP, Then windows 2000 Each time with a Fdisk and Reformat.

This is the first time using the card since everything is new and first time for everything. The motherboard sucks.. I dont trust the sis 655 chipset.

Nothing prior has been installed.

I hope they release a newer card in the following weeks to come so I can just return this one and get newer one instead. I forked out 1,300 bucks for this card. Yeah thats a lot for a card but I use it mostly for work but I love games. Having Hardware Overlay support in my 3d packages is great, and being able to enjoy Doom3 is even better.

Thanks for Responding. I finally got someone from PNY to call me back.. though what they sugested me doing hasn't solved the problem yet.. they said there were new AGP drivers for the chipset to install.. Either way I hope the Asus I have coming tomorrow fixes these issues.. It sucks not being able to play with my system knowing that its on the fritz. Such a bummer.

Let's hope the Asus board you are getting is an Intel chipset!!!

Not to laugh or anything. It's sort of comical you have a $1300.00 graphics card, but you go with a SIS chipset? eeeehhhhh... What were you thinking? :)

Go with the creators of AGP. You'll never go wrong with them!

Yeah man I get post.. I even see the Windows Screen.. in Windows 2000 it gets twards the end of the line when loading and locks for 10 mins.

On winxp it locks as well at the Loadup Screen.. With no Drivers installed it works fine.. I have tried a bunch of Drivers.. All are ****ed.. Oh well.. Everytime it locks too..

Ohh yes Solomon.. this Asus is 100 percent Intel Chipset.. I don't know what I was thinking.. Its just that I was tempted so much by the Red PCB board.. I like red and was tired of Poop brown and Puke Green.

I presume you mean the white block line right at the beginning? Not the graduated colour bar on the second screen.

If it the first one then your problem is definately a low level system problem, try changing AGP speed, fastwrites etc.

If it's the second then it's probably a higher level driver issue, USB etc.

What happens after the 10mins?

Yes Surf Monkey

it is the White Load lines. It stops right twards the end for about 10 mins. After that windows Loads and everythign is fine.. But I don't have 10 mins to wait every single time.. Its not right ya know. What AGP speed should I have? If I turn fastwrites off will I loose out a lot? Hopefully the Asus Board I get tomrrow solves the problem.. But it has to do with Installing Nvidia Drivers.. but it locks before windows auctually loads so yes Low Level system problem.. Without the drivers in standard VGA it loads just fine.

The only extremely long windows load times that I remember seeing were due to the network card. Have you tried removing any network card you may have? Or tried shuffling IRQ's around? (this last one may have no effect depending on how your BIOS is set up...)

Fastwrites only really affects 2D performance and then not really that much but can cause instability. Try dropping AGP to 2x (crap I know but it might help).

Other than that I don't really know, if Windows is having problems with loading the *vbios chunk then it's either a previously installed driver not giving up resources (some other peripheral) or the nv card is failing to respond to the driver in which case you may have a duff card.

Good luck with the new motherboard anyway, keep us up to date with your progess :D

I meant to fix my statement on Windows 2000.. It locks up when you see the blue boxes going across.. the white it goes fine past.. So its not the white just locks for 10 mins on the blue bars but all the way at the end.

I am sure its something to do with the Motherboard... Lets hope this new Asus fixes the issues.. or else it is the Video card that is ****ed.. hopefully the Quadro FX 3000 comes out and I can return this one that pay a few hundred more for the 3000.. If I do wait 10 mins it sure does smoke.. that Dawn Ultra demo with 8x Antialising really is amazing.. I tried 8x and no antialising and yet it seemed to be the same speed.. How much of a hit are you suposed to take when using Antialising? Also I know the card does 16x but for some reason the highest the software lets me go to is 8..

hmmm
