Simple question : I'm building a server/rendering PC for the work & money is not a big issue.

whats the best mid-range Quadro with latest GPU tech (G80/G92) with decent amount of framebuffer ?

another question : How is the FX1700 in comparsion ?

I'm open to any suggestions/recommendations. the PC will be used for video editing using Adobe Premiere/Pinnacle Studio & a 3D astronomy program called "Uniview".

I believe that the FX3700 is the 8800GT equivalent.

The FX1700 I believe is more closely related to the 8600 series.

if you need a large frame buffer stay away from the FX1700

the 3700 is crazy fast and has a decent frame buffer

by the sounds of what you are using it for I would eve hesitate suggesting over a FX570

what sort of redering are you doing?

currently its running on a P4D(IIRC) , 1GB RAM , 8600GT. the encoding takes a hell lot of time for like a 30sec video.
