View Full Version : A question to NVIDIA engineers or/and to NVIDIA GPU professionals

I have NVIDIA 8800GT video card which has these default clocks:

-- VideoBios information --
Version: 62.92.XX.XX.XX
Signon message: GeForce 8800 GT VGA BIOS
Performance level 0: gpu 660MHz/shader 1650MHz/memory 950MHz/0.00V/100%
VID mask: 3
Voltage level 0: 0.95V, VID: 0
Voltage level 1: 1.00V, VID: 1
Voltage level 2: 1.05V, VID: 2
Voltage level 3: 1.10V, VID: 3

I would like to enable powermizer, because right now it's not working (there's just one performance level).

I have the following questions:

1) what are the lowest safe clock frequencies for core, shader and memory?
2) since I'm gonna use NiBiTor to enable Performance levels can you explain the meaning of these levels:

Extra
3d
Thrtl
2d

I quite understand what 2d and 3d mean, but Extra and Throttle aren't clear for me. Intel CPUs have their own (non adjustable) throttling levels from 10% to 90% - I cannot understand how there can be just one throttling level :-)

3) Also for every performance level it is possible to set voltages - what values should I choose?

As if anyone is going to bother...

Those forums with all the hw volt modding enthusiasts would be a better place to ask maybe.

I don't think there are many NVIDIA engineers who monitor this board.

Can anyone upload his 8XXX or 9XXX laptop BIOS? At least I will see what is the difference between normal clocks and idle clocks.

Bump.
