Who's getting the free version, and who's buying ($10)?

... and what will you make? :headexplode:

So wait, the game still won't come out for another year but we get a demo creature creator? :wtf:

I cannot wait till Spore comes out.

WTF is this Creature demo crap? Just because you haven't finished the whole game don't put out stupid crap like this that does nothing.

Feking EA!

Final spore looks to childish to colorful to silly, in early demos it looked much better , crappy EA making everything into SIMS.

It launches in September, but the creature creator is coming out in 5 days. While I don't agree with EA's marketing bull****, I'm probably going to buy the creature creator anyway. I'll download the free version, and if I like it, I'll pay for the full version.

Well the "multiplayer" aspect of the game is essentially content sharing. So they are probably just trying to round up some free online content for the release date so that the "lowest common denominators" can jump right into the game instead of creating something on their own.

there is going to be thousands of planets, the demo created creatures are going to carry over to release and will give a bigger variety of user created creatures in these planets by time of release. I think its a good idea even though it will feel more like a tease. This game will probably end up being the next sims if not bigger.

Let's hope you're right on that one. This game feels like its going to be a breath of fresh air compared to most society-based games.

If you buy this now do you get $10 off the final price of Spore? Doubtfull but it seems awfully lame to sell part of your game early, then sell the whole thing later with the original part included.

It just feels like an entirely new form of preemptive microtransaction to me.d.

But what good is it? What can you do with it? So yo make a creature then what? You just look at it and wish you had the full game so you can play with him in it? Am I missing something here?

No but I think you are intended to miss what you already picked up on. :p

They did the same thing with The Sims, it's just to get the hype up. It worked amazingly with The Sims, with that game all they released as a Character Creator, no demos, no betas.

I hate to say it, but EA/Will Wright know what they are doing. Hype will be massive once this comes out.

LOL! This is such a stupid thing. I can't believe anyone will actually buy this.

I can see it now.

Ok I finished my creature, swee!.... I think I'll surf for porn.

Difference is they released The Sims body shop for free. They want to charge you to get all the stuff in this creature creator.

The free version gives you something like 1/3 of the parts in the full game, while the $10 gives you everything in the full game. I'll probably just be getting the free version now. I don't agree with shelling out $10 just to make a couple creatures. :thumbdwn:

I thought I read something about getting a $10 voucher towards the full game if you buy the Creature Creator now.

I don't think the game will sell a fraction as well as Sims. Sims had the whole socializing, doll house casual appeal. However, I think this will probably be a better GAME for gamers.

So if The Sims was a doll house for adults, what is this? Mr Potato Head?

I'm very sceptical about this game's mass market appeal. I still remember the last Black & White. Tehe, my creature throw poo poo!... yawn... then back to Counter Strike.

I tend to agree. There's a lot of hype surrounding this game but I don't see the major draw. Alot of it is based around the concept of creating your own creatures, buildings, and such but isn't that almost like marketting a game to people who mod games? I play games to PLAY them not design them for the developers.

I'll probably play spore but I'll probably pick some premade creature because I don't want to spend hours upon hours making something that'll look like crap in the end anyway. I have zero artistic talent, and no drive to improve. My ability to design a creature tops out at making a gelatinous cube (It's a D&D monster, look it up).
