skipping this card, will wait and see what ATI offers, then I have a choice to either get ATI, wait for new GT200 shrink or buy 9800GX2 for about 400.

650+ is ****ing crazy, slightly faster then GX2 in some games, and 250+ dollars more expensive. WTF

9800 GX2 had stutter / pausing issues. The 256bit bus and only 512MB usable memory killed performance. Vegas 2, GOW, a few others ran terrible with the pausing. I had one then went to a GTX from there. Much happier with the GTX - a bit lower performance but overall much smoother and more enjoyable gameplay. Stay away from the GX2.

ZipZoomFly (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10008731) has the ASUS ENGTX280/HTDP/1G currently available. Stock 602 core clock for only $706.99!

Boy! This early adopter tax is getting ridiculous!

I'll be getting a GTX 280 once the prices fall just a bit. I am not paying ZZF 700usd for one :p

Hopefully, I'll be able to get some kind of cash from my GX2 to hopefully pick one of these up by the end of the month.

And here's to hoping they will still be in stock!

I just landed in Las Vegas and went directly to Frys near the airport.

While they did not have any on the shelf, they did have the stickers and a spot ready to go

two vendors (one was EVGA the other I can't remember) both GTX280 1Gig for 699.99

I waited about 15 minutes to try and ask someone when they would be out but I had to check in to my hotel.

ordered.. (damn these spur of the moment things) ;)

Bit the bullet as well... What's weird though, is that they changed something in the way they consider which items can be sent abroad, due to weight. While I used to get video cards from them using Royal Mail International (ie my current 8800GTX), now most video cards are considered too heavy to be sent abroad (ie 9800GX2, 9800GTX). But, these new cards went through just fine, as if they haven't entered their weight in the system or something. My order has apparently shipped already, should have it in a week, hopefully. :)

If the price was "UNDER" $500, I'd buy one but until my 8800GTX ultra SC can't run a new game (besides Crysis) I can wait. So far I've skipped the 9800 series if I skip this series, I'll be ahead of the game by a lot of $$$

Nvidia + early adopter tax = a little greedy and with (sarcasm)"PC gaming in the toilet because of piracy" (/sarcasm) I see no reason to run out and buy this new card.

Yeah, I saw that, it's a good price, but novatech's site is just about the worst I've ever seen. I'm seriously thinking about getting two 260's.

BTW it's cheaper at CCL (http://www.cclonline.com/product-categories.asp?category_id=755) at £261.10 inc.

PNY has a 50usd rebate on their GTX 280 when I am posting this, so that would drop the card to an even 6.

Cheapest i've found in Ireland was €549.00 at komplett.ie

Can probably be found cheaper, if i look a bit harder

Ordered a 280 for CHF 750.- (around $720). That's actually a bit cheaper than the GX2 a few months ago!

(crazy)

FX video cards must be keeping the rebate, they have PNY GTX 280 @ $599.99 no rebate.

Good find.

I am staying with my XFX GTX 280 so if and when I get bored with it I will be able to sell it with an intact lifetime warranty I can transfer to my buyer that also includes official support for overclocking and HSF replacement. That should help build value and keep the asking price at a better level than a card that has its warranty voided when it leaves your hands.

 Smart, The XFX double lifetime warranty is really a good thing for the seller of his/her used card and the buyer of used cards. Too bad EVGA doesnt offer something similiar.
