just bought a new 216 off ebay for £100.

Retro gaming stuff juggling ftmfw

I took another look at the GTX275's GTA IV numbers and realised I'd be throwing money away on it.

Better late than never... just got my XFX GTX260 Black edition yesterday for $180 with MIR :)

Upgraded from a eVGA GTS8800 640Mb. My case being an Antec Solo I had to cut the drive bay with a metal saw to make the new card fit but no too big a deal.

I checked other models (higher one) but the XFX was so cheap now, I decided to go for that one as the nv300 won't be out this year and 275, 285 and 295 don't seem to be worth the money.

So far, I love it. I made my PC a silent one and this card is dead silent at 40% fan speed (idle or desktop) and using Rivatuner to control the fan/temperature. Playing WoW few hours never got me above 60% fan (audible, but not much) and I am playing 1920x1200 at 8AA 16Ani all options maxed. Fully stable.

Almost an overkill for WoW except that I like to play with all options maxed out ;)

Just picked up a GTX 260
Gigabyte GTX260 OC
put it into a machine that multi-boots into several versions of Linux and WinXP Pro
Quick Question for anyone farmiliar with Mandriva 2009.1
Is there a graphics driver available thats better than the 6100 and later driver that comes with Mandriva?
Is that driver OK? ie will it drive the cars to somewhere around its optimum?

Just ordered EVGA GTX 260 SUPERCLOCKED EDITION. Do you think it's a big step up from 7800gt ?

Well, Newegg dragged their feet yesterday, so the card will ship today. Guess I'll get it tomorrow then. I was hoping to have it today. My PC misses me. :(

The performace seems to be equal to the SLI 9800GTX setup I had, so I can't wait to see what happens when I add another BFG GTX 260 Maxcore 55! ;) Also, it's running a little cooler than my 9800GTXs did. I've also overclocked it to the highest setting that BFG has on a GTX 260 and so far, so good!

I'm not sure how much improvement there is yet but I can pretty much max all my games with 16xXQ and 16xAF, excluding crysis of course which still runs below what i'd expect.

hehe, well I play at 1680x1050 (no AA) since thats my native resolution. So I was hoping I could max it out with frames not going below the 30 mark, but unfortunately I get around 22ish sometimes.

Although, I was testing using Crysis Wars, but I figure Wars is less intensive cuz the settings are different where Best Graphics mode is actually just high in crysis instead of very high.

It sound about right, though I recall playing Crysis at 1680x1050 on E8400 at ~4Ghz, 4GB of RAM and a 260GTX at about stock - and that felt similar to palying Crysis at 1280x1024 with E6600 @~ 3Ghz, 2GB of RAM and an 8800GTX. Though it's been a while since I palyed on theother system (E6600,2GB RAM and 8800GTX is mine).

Also I'm not sure if the settings were the same... :p
