I'll stick with my 8800GTS 512 until I build again in the Fall or until I have need for something more. I paid top dollar for my 7950GX2 at release and the 8800 series were released less than 2 weeks afterwards. After almost a year, I replaced my 7950GX2 with an evga 8800GTS and the difference was like night and day.

At this point, the few games I do still play are butter-smooth so, I'll wait until the price drops a bit on the GTX 280 and go that route. I'll not do another single-slot sli.

Shame the 9800GTX+ didn't have 1GB of ram....those on sli would give some serious numbers out.

I posted in the other like thread, kinda like this one, about how the 4870 will possibly put pressure on Nvidia to drop prices soon. Now its obvious Nvidia will have to drop pricing.

I dont think they are worth the current MSRP.Not the 280 or the 260.The 260 is IMHO 50$ too much, and the 280 about 100 to 150 too much, given thier performance relative to the competetion.

Now given all that,I will stiill buy a 260 in the next month or two.Maybe even a 280 if I can snag it for ~500 usd, new.

Which is what I think it should be selling for @ stock clocks.I did not think AMD would this incredibly aggressive with pricing ! The 4870 should be selling for 399+ given its incredible performance.

I will never have any interest in SLI/CF,so whatever is fastest and @ 500 USD,in 30 to 60 days.I am also looking forward to the increase in folding output the NEW card will give me.

I currently have 4 systems folding for team Whoopass ! :)

I have a 8800GTX, I'm waiting a few months for prices to drop and see what's up with the ATI cards.

Then I'll see.

The price for the 280 is insane. I thought about the 9800 GX2, not sure, SLI is a PITA.

I really want to change my answer now. I thought the HD 4850/4870 were going to be steaming pile of ****, just like the 2900's. However, ATI has given a new meaning to the word "value" in the video card industry, and I LOVE IT!!! I'm seriously considering getting an HD 4870. It looks like such a fantastic card for 1/2 the price of the GTX 280.

I had the Evga 8800gtx since november 2006, was waiting for the GTX280 but noise more than price is an issue for me. So I bought the Sapphire HD 4870 and it's crushing my 8800GTX in every benchmarks and it's also quiet.

The GTX 280 need a die shrink asap !

Just voted "Wait for the new ATi offering "

Actually it's not true, I just ordered the HD 4780 but there is not such option in the Poll either you buy the NVIDIA card or just wait :)

Anybody likes to buy my BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB PCIe, never OC by me and only 10 months old with lifetime BFG Waranty?
