View Full Version : Uttar ..... MuFu ...... quit hiding and give us some info!!!
I know you two are lurking with all the INFO SO LET'S HAVE IT!!!
I don't want to wait anymore and you guys aren't under NDA!!!!!
We won't give you anything! Muhahahah!
More seriously though, I got practically no new info. And MuFu can't speak much because of perfectly reasonable reasons ( although there are a few exceptions to the rule, so you may see some things from him anyway - won't go into the details )
To summarize what I know...
NV36 to tape-out sometimes in May @ TSMC ( heck, maybe it already taped-out, don't know, probably not )
NV40 to tape-out in July @ IBM
Could have tried to get some more info, but I'm currently quite busy installing Linux ( Gentoo, to be more accurate ) so I haven't been online a lot.
Uttar
What? No I just don't know anything, lol.
l8-)rz,

Time to start torturing information out of them...
/em Gets out the bamboo shoots and the Celine Dion CD
Thanks for responding guys but .....
LIARS!!!! :D
Okay, okay... There...
The FINAL FX 5900 Ultra specs are 450/850 ( effective memory speed, raw 450/425 ) w/ DDR1. This is 100% certain.
The NV35s are already at some reviewers, for several days already. In fact, they're all over the world. There's one in Moscow, for example.
Now I really told you everything I know. So go away! :P
Uttar
Really? See I didn't know any of that. :)
MuFu.
P.S. The sh!t is really going to hit the fan when NV35 is launched regarding their driver "optimisations" for benchmarks. Better go buy some flame-retardant knickers, guys. ;)

Hmm, are you saying they're lowering IQ for speed with new drivers again....
Or are you just implying that popular benchmarks will show big increases and other games will get nothing.

Yes. Well, kind of - you'll have to wait and see. It's basically a closer and far more damning look at what is going on already in terms or driver hacks. :)
In current games I don't think it will be much faster than the Radeon 9800 Pro at comparable IQ overall (factoring in FSAA + AF performance, of course). In fact I think the two will be about even overall.
MuFu.
Well that sucks if true. Still if the speed is about equal in games at high IQ settings, I'd still probably get one. Nvidia cards usually run stable across wider range of games. How many times have you heard a new game needing a fix from ATI since the game was originally developed on nvidia hardware. That and ATI always waits till next set of drivers are WHQL'd before releasing fix.

You two just made an old man really happy!
BRING ON THE CONTRAVERSY!!!! :D
Plus, ATi have something coming on a couple of months or so (source: B3D) that should trounce the 5900 Ultra pretty easily. :)

<low-sigh>
Yeah, I heard about that left-hook ATi has waiting in the wings...
<low-sigh>
I guess I was under the impression that the 5900 Ultra was gonna be a real challenger to the R420, with the R420 ultimately taking the crown....but if you think it's gonna be ATi with a knock-out you must know some good news on that side of things. ;)
Cool, sounds like there's some fun times ahead for board junkies! :D

I know you know a lot of shiznit in the graphics world but I thought the R420 would be more then 2 months out ..... more like 4-5 months out.
It's not R420. That is due later on.

You're talking about the R390. In the more immediate future is the R350 respin, which is just there to keep the NV35 at bay (certainly not something you'd upgrade from a 9800 to).
Given that NV40 cards are due to be sold at the ass end of the year, it'll be interesting to see when ATi squeezes out their fall product. October? November (bang on when the NV40 is scheduled to be unveiled? How's THAT for a shot in the arm!)?
There really isn't much it the way of ATI rumors. They do a good job of keeping things quiet.
Most of what we know is speculation.
