probably a mixture of A and C. they'll turn some things down, and boost some other things.
maybe we can finally use AA without demolishing the FPS

Crysis Warhead will feature 4 graphic settings levels, 3 of them are Mainstream (medium), Gamer (high), Enthusiast (very high). This sounds like its inline with the 'Crysis Warhead certified' PC lineup EA will offer.

Then this... confirmed better graphics + better framerate at the same time! And also upto 40 enemies onscreen! :smoking:

6. Can we expect more polygons to be used on objects, better textures and a better optimized game than in Crysis? (Baggibox, Crysis-HQ.com)

Answer: In Warhead we use the most recent CryENGINE2 version which is further optimized. It is possible now to show more overall action on the screen such as explosions, AI enemies, objects and more with an increased frame rate.

You can bet your left nut that there will be screams of bloody murder if the graphic quality is degraded in order to get these higher frame rates.

Just as we would scream bloody murder if the frame rates took a hit for higher graphics quality. ::p:

Yep people are never satisfied :o

if Warhead sticks with the same graphics quality of Crysis , i'll be be happy. of course though .. better performance is always welcome!

The gameplay videos out show that high and very high has been uppgraded! :smoking:

Its sad that many complaining on the framerates dipping into the high 20's have no problems with console games dipping into the low 10's... :headexplode:

What annoys me is that they are no longer patching Crysis. Hey, I paid for that game, I didn't pirate it. Now all these optimizations are going towards a new title for more $$$$.

They can definitely get Crysis running better, but they aren't patching it anymore. So, will they release 1-2 patches for Warhead if they don't make their sales, too?

Blizzard still patches Starcraft for cripes sake, it's 10+ years old and they don't make a lot of cash on it anymore. Blizzard doesn't make any console games, you don't see them crying.

#&!$ *@$ (Cry)tek!

Never got it why promo shots of Warhead looks so blurry and cartoonish. I mean it doesnt look like that when watching the HD gameplay videos nor did Crysis look like that. Looks way worse than actual graphics.

i think the game "Crysis" looks next gen and amazing

get yourself a decent rig and run in ultra with a decent custom config

Something about these shots does make them look sort of cartoony compared to Crysis...

Very strange.

Also, there are lots of pics of what looks like a new grenade launcher weapon.

I don't really understand what the big deal with Crysis performance is. Sure, most of us can't run it at "very high" with AA and AF, but that's how it is with cutting edge games. But the game looks phenomenal at "High" anyway. I'd rather it be like this -- games pushing the graphical boundaries -- than to have things just be consolized with good performance at max on midrange systems.

Just my two cents...

Make that lowrange systems for authenticy...

First performance analysis of Crysis Warhead - four GiByte required?
http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,657402/News/GC_2008_First_performance_analysis_of_Crysis_Warhe ad_-_four_GiByte_required/

The test PC was a high-end system with a Core 2 Extreme QX9770, four GiByte DDR3 1333 RAM and a Geforce GTX 260. With the command "r_displayinfo 1” we activated the display of details like framerate, memory usage or the number of polygons displayed (see screenshots). According to the information delivered, Crysis Warhead was running in DX 9 mode only. Anti Aliasing was inactive and the resolution was set to 1,152 x 864. In the graphics options we couldn't change anything and the menu "Advanced” could not be accessed. Therefore we don't know about the exact detail settings. The console displayed "Custom” - so the settings did not match any of the presets. We suppose - because of what we saw in the game - that most details had been set to "high”. Since the version was a prerelease one, it could be that Crytek did not optimize it yet.

The framerate was constantly above 41. But the memory usage was surprisingly high: According to the command console 2,146 MiByte were in use. In Crysis this value never exceeded 1,300 MiByte. On a PC with only 2 GiByte memory this scene is likely to cause loading lags.

After the intro there was a spectacular car chase with an included air strike. Here the memory usage increased to 2,180 MiByte. The framerate was around 35 fps and fell to 29 fps in challenging scenes. In the following scene we took a harbor on foot. Here the fps rate was round 35 pictures per second and Crysis Warhead used up to 2,190 MiByte. But you have to bear in mind that Crytek got a lot of time for optimizations. We are anxious to see the final version.

Crysis Warhead already gone gold, I dont think it will run well with my 3 years old Athlon 64 X2 4400+. Will wait until I see benchmarks to decide between Core 2 Quad Q9550 with 8GB DDR2 memory vs Core 7i 2.66GHz with 6GB DDR3 or... 12GB DDR3.:afraid::scarey:
