Not bad for a mainstream card.

Understatement of the year. Lol. Looks like I might be getting my first Ati card. 4870.

Actually it doesn't really look good here at all

I wouldn't say thats a 100% fair test as they used a P5K for the ATI card which doesn't have the same memory bandwidth as the 680i used for the other cards. This may be slowing it down a bit.

Other reviews show it being faster than the 9800GTX in most cases.

Looks like Radeon 4000 series includes enhanced AA beating nVidia's offering:

Pretty impressive. Though I'm usually good with 4x or 8x, if that 8x edge detect mode is similar in performance to normal 8x it would be awesome.

I am really thinking about going with ATI for this round. While the performance of my GTX has been great, it's inability to do TV out and the need for aftermarket cooling fans to keep the card from artifacting have been two sore points with me.

Here's hoping the SoftFireGL scripts work with the 4800 series as well.

Here are some P35 Crossfire numbers (with the old ATI cards).

That's why Crossfire is not an option for me. I don't want to buy a new mainboard now, Nehalem is only a few months away.

is it worth (crossfire) for a P35mainboard owner?

I,sadly,have the P5kpremium....

Ouch! I was thinking about getting a couple of 4850s. I guess I won't after all... :o

GTX260 or 4870 it is then.

No it makes no sense at all. P45 or X38/48 is a must.
