And by the time the 4870 gets released the 260GTX will be lowered to $349.

AMD/ATI just can't top Nvidia or Intel. They are too far behind. Nvidia has too much money. All they have to do is shrink margins for a few quarters and essentially AMD might go under in 2-3 years going at their current burn rate.

I hope they don't I like AMD.

After the 4850 and 4870 the ATI part of AMD might actually make some $$$$ but not enough to offset AMDs loses. I think AMD/ATI should split off and AMD should use the IPO money to pay off some of their 3.5 billion dollar debt. That might be the only way to save both companies.
