Holy ****, Tony!
Tuniq Tower 120 @ 100% here.
It was 100' F here today and going to be right around that for the next week or so. It's 2:06 a.m. and still 80' F.

Holy ****, Tony!
That's our usual temps during the summer. My room becomes hell if I don't turn on the A/C... :) What's worse is me gaming on my PS3 or my 360 while the PC is on! Imagine having the PS3/360 and my LCD tv adding to the temps of my system. I can practically make tea without a kettle! :p

The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme will get the job done ,but it is big and real heavy.

Just read this today on Hexus:

Both Xigmatek heatsinks aren't made out to be so cool here(no pun intended).

My Tuniq Tower does a great job, with 1.45 VC at 3.4ghz my Q6600 idles at 38-36C across all 4 cores and loads at 68C under Prime 95 with small FFT's.

The HEXUS guy makes a quite relevant mention of the 2 pipes overlapping the HEATSPREADER but forgets whats under the heatspreader, THE CORES.
The red Xigmatek is proven crap.
Also...
"Dear Tarinder,
Actually I just found out that you have tested Achilles Rev. 1, we had some modifications after launching this product, unfortunately you got the wrong sample from the beginning and “we” (hexus and us) didn’t recognize it and I have to apologize for this inconvenience. Nevertheless I will resend you the Achilles S1284C which has better HDT (gaps are smaller in between the Heat Pipes) and more fins added on this cooler and also the HDT-S1283 Red Scorpion Edition for your reference and re test."
Sounds like BS to me though.

Oh, that's new. It wasn't there when the review was initially released this morning. I'd like to see a re-test if they get one.

I'd never use the supplied sachet of thermal paste unless its something I know, I also wouldnt apply it like have done there, With a paintball gun.

Heres a snippet from benchmarkreviews

Cons:
- Does not completely cover processor contact surface
- Nickel plating retains heat and slightly reduces performance
- Unpolished mounting base
- Silicon TIM material supplied oxidizes copper <<<------ this is a killer , What utter moron decided to supply that????
- No spare soft rubber T-clip supplied for fan
the tuniq tower would be my cooler of choice, but it's a tad annoying having to install it
rendered my raidmax motherboard foldy tray useless
i have my q6600 overclocked to 3.4ghz and it's only like 38c on the cores

I'd advise against tuniq. I had it with my q6600 3.6 and just replaced it with a tru 120 black edition. Suffice to say with two fans on the true there is less space, my temps idle are 7c lower then with tuniq, load temps 12c lower then tuniq and fans spin less ingame making the system quieter. Although on that note I did lap both my cpu and true 120 black for maximum perfm.

+1 for no tuniq. It's too damn big.
guess instead of tuniq for my next build i'm going with the ifx-14

Pretty sure the IFX is bigger yet. It should get the job done though if you have the room for it.

IFX-14 will only beat the Xigmatek because of the backside cooler if at all.
