Can it run a monitor at native res of 1680 x 1050. Also can it run movies encoded in hidef like wmvhd and the likes?

Not sure. I'm pretty sure there are some people here that have an 8400GS that can help you out. Did you find any reviews on it?

Btw, what's your avatar mean? I saw it on this one girls bag a few days ago.

No probs. It's just not for gaming. Only some programs (eg. PowerDVD through Pure Video) use the graphics card anyway. You'd need an OK CPU to cope with the films (codecs like x264) that don't use the gfx card. Nekro knows more about this than me though.

I use it to power my 2nd lcd. It's able to run 1080p movies with no problems and supports 2560x1600 res.

It should work just fine but you have to use programs like PowerDVD or WinDVD for hardware accelerated video...

Actually those usually suck at HD video decoding. Anything from GeForce 8 series works great with HD content. Even GF 8400... They just suck for games though...

hmmm...then I might just get the 8400gs. I am not doing encoding as much as having to transcode stuff on the fly to stream to my 360. So I think its the cpu that will come into play more than the gpu and I have a e2160 so I think I am OK in that dept.
