Ok, now that I finally have a job, I can get quick money that only comes biweekly :(. ANYWAYS, I was on newegg today and I was looking at cases. I remember that one case thread where everyone (who owned one of these) was talking about their CM RC690. So I looked them up on newegg and noticed 2 RC690's and I'm torn apart between the 2 of them. There is:

A) the original, classic black w/blue LEDs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137

Then....

B) A new Nvidia exclusive NV690 with green LED's, green side panel, and a greeen Nvidia logo on the front: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119157

Green is my favorite color and I love the RC690, a lot of cooling options, but not as many on the Nvidia edition. I'm completely stuck on which one of these to buy!

I want the Nvidia one because I love green, it's got a side panel, and I'm a fanboy (with the exception of the GT200's) :bleh:. But I don't want it because it doesn't have as many side panel fan sockets as the classic black RC690. I can use the higher side panel fan as an intake and the lower one as a GPU exhaust. I don't get that option in the Nvidia exclusive one. Of course, I'll be buying extra fans and a fan controller, depending on which one I get.

I need your guys' help on this one.

It's cool looks vs staying cool.

Would you have gotten that one if they had it when you bought your RC690?

I have a Stacker 830. If they had the Nvidia ones of those when I bought, then hell yeah I would have gotten the Nvidia version. ::D:

You still have the same cooling options for the Nvidia Stacker 830 as you do with the regular Stacker 830.

I have 1 less fan and in a critical location if I get the Nvidia one unless I have the front top fan as an intake, back top fan as an exhaust and rear fan as an exhaust and the side panel as an exhaust with a front intake... I don't know how well that will work.

I'd have the front and side as intake, and the read as exhaust along with the PSU. Ofcourse if you have a top panel fan it should be exhaust also.

You aren't really losing much, just one extra fan that could be an intake over the CPU. If you setup your front and other side ok you'll be fine.

I forgot about the bottom fan being an intake. I really need an exhaust fan for my GPU's though. It's a good thing this case has those rear vents by the expansion slots. My current case lacks that and keeps the GPU exhaust in my case and it recirculates to my CPU. I think I'll have that side fan as an exhaust.

I drew out how the airflow will work if I do it the way I think will work best. Bear with me here, it's slightly crappy, but it's the best I could do. The red arrows represent the exhaust. The black/blue arrows represent the fresh air/intake.

Why do you need an exhaust for the GPUs? Don't they exhaust out the back themselves? My GTX does, so if anything a side intake would be better otherwise you'll make create some turbulence which will wreck everything.

As for the pics. I have no idea what you just drew. ::D:

Lol at the turbulence and drawing commet :). Well, it's a single slot cooling solution, so I don't know now it will work out if I had the rear vents.

i got what he drew, caringer_fail.exe?

why do you have 2 on top? is that a popular config?

Heat travels upwards and the RC690 has 2 top fan slots, so I'll utilize both for MAXIMUM SPEED....I mean maximum airflow.

Btw, that mag is from October 2005. There is a review round up of the fastest 7800GTX's when they first came out. It's pretty amusing reading what people said is the fastest card in the world back then and comparing how the HD4870 and GTX280 are the fastest now.

Meth, I never was good at art, but I had an A in it back in 7th grade.

so one is pushing down, one is pulling out? isnt it better to just make both pulling out?

I think it's better if the one on over my RAM blows in and the one over my CPU blows out. It will create a U effect and my CPU will get cool air. Although, I think it will only work if I have a perpendicular heatsink, like a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 or Thermalright 120-Ultra with 2 fans. I'll give it a shot tho. If it doesn't work, I'll just switch all the fans back to it's factory positions.

Note the bottom left hand drawing. That's the U effect I'm talking about:

Hopefully Rush Delivery works. I ordered it before 12pm and it processed my payment before 1230pm. I want it TODAY! I'm gonna spend about $100 worth of fans and a 5 1/2" bay fan controller.
