I think your source of frustration should be the Nvidia drivers buddy :)

there's nothing wrong with dx 10 crysis, it's obviously the poorly coded cry engine,
and lack of support after the 1st 2 patches.

Aint that a contradiction? ;)

How is Crysis poorly coded anyhow? It's massively demanding, more than any other game, yet plays very well on hardware that's up to the job. OK DX10 is poo, but DX9 is awesome!

you know, it supposed to look like a game from 2012 and run/require specs like a game from 2006

:rofl

Crytek always said it would require hardware 1.5 years ahead of the high-end rigs of the time to run of full settings. I think we're doing pretty well :)

Crysis doesn't stutter at all here. It runs pretty good under Vista x64. As I said i run it on DX10, every very high (objects are high and it's greyed out), AA2x, AF8x, vsync OFF. I'm enjoying game big time...

Nice :)

So it ran OK in DX9?Never got around to running the benchmark in DX9 under Vista with the new system. Unfortunately, I now need the spare HDD for another system I am building for a review. Asus sent us their M3N78 Pro mobo so I treated myself to Phenom 9850 :)

However, I did get Windows XP re-installed on the new system (E8500, nForce 790i SLI, DDR3 memory) and ran a Cyrsis benchmark at 1280x800 with medium settings.

The benchmark was smoking on the GeForce 280 GTX - average of 89fps and minimum of 57fps :afro2:

It'd be interesting to see how it runs in Vista with the same hardware and settings, just for a direct comparison. I would hope the FPS would be similar. If you get chance could you post your results. Cheers :)

Now running a dual-boot system with the new hardware.

I have already beat Crysis and have no urge to put the DVD in my computer again.

The 8800GT did OK.

After two weeks of instability/troubleshooting, I have scrapped my upgrade plans to the 790i/DDR3. That's $500 worth of hardware that is temporarily being relegated to paperweight status :)

My project for this weekend is moving back to the 680i mobo I had been using. The good news is that I will be able to make use of the new E8500 processor I picked up for the upgrade.

Damn, will have to phone home...
