any ideas??......or i need short course "how to use formus and don't look stupid"?

Don't feel too bad, every forum I've ever worked at/posted at I don't think 5% of the members knew about the search function.

My big thing for a while was to change the little "search" button into a HUGE banner with blinking red lights that spelled out "search"...but me ingenious idea always got shot down as being "offensive". :rolleyes:

In another forum I am, the search function for some reason just looks in the last month, even if you choose 3, 6 months or 1 year... :confused:
So when I need some old threads, I have to remember who started it, and then sort thread by starter, choose show 300+ days, and then go to page.... 45. :eek:

Can you imagine how many people would stop by, search, find their answer, and never come back? I'd rather have people repost questions if that means they're going to stick around.

Some old threads are gone however. I went to mention something to someone else...and had a link for a post of mine emailed to someone from sometime back. Needless to say, the old link no longer worked...so it's either gone, or you guys archive old posts under a different URL then the original.

It basically had to do with artists speaking out against the RIAA's stance on the Internet, copy protected CDs, etc... The links to what the artists themselves had written (concerning the RIAA and it's treatment of it's own artists) was embeded therein... I finally managed to pull the origninal articles through Google...

nV News got hacked last year and everything was lost. I'm not aware that old threads are not still around.
