Hey guys, my mate rang me last night and said that the sound in his laptop just stopped working. I looked at the laptop this morning, it's as deaf as a post. Reinstalled drivers - nothing Reinstalled windows - nothing, Installed ubuntu - nothing. I think I checked every possiblity and there is still no sound!
I thought that sound card in the laptop has gone faulty. I've heard of those USB external ones, and I was wondering whether it could be used to get the sound back. Laptop is not covered by warranty anymore.
Sound dissapeared while watching a movie. Laptop wasn't dropped or anything like that. Or he just doesn't want to admitt that he's done something to it.

Wasn't muted was it?
What was the state of the sockets, Any corrosion or black marks?

Could always get some cheap crap like this to test whether usb will work then get a proper one later
