The local KMart near my house has a 20GB ps3 covered in dust, sitting in the games display case. I thought I would check and see if they had it marked down since they are discontinued so I asked the clerk. They are still selling it for $499! I think I'm going to talk to the manager to see if they might want to cut a deal for it.

What do you guys think?

Unless you can get it for about the same price of the 40GB I would pass.

I wouldn't consider it unless it was less than the 40.

I'd probably just go for a newer model.. unless you can get it significantly cheaper than the 20gb was/is. You'll probably miss a larger HDD though..

Why? He can just install a new larger HD...

The 20GB should have BC on it, so if that's what your looking for than it is better than a 40GB model. Just swap out a drive later.

That'd cost him too..

Not too much and he would then have a 20gb drive to go in a housing for a laptop or something.

But heads up, you might run out of harddrive space. Music. maybe videos and then the large installs many games need. Especially with the long install times of up to 20 minutes!!!.

My thoughts were if I could convince the store manager to sell it to me for $299 I could upgrade the HDD and have a fully BC PS3. If not, I would just go for for a new 40 or 80gb system.

Ha! 20 minutes? I heard about the 20min install before GTAIV would run. Glad I got one of the fast PS3s as the install was done in under 10.
