I haven't had a gaming PC in almost 2 years...

forgot how much I missed it... I broke down and ordered a q6600 and a couple 4850's.

Really looking forward to it :captnkill:

make sure you get right board, don't buy one with P35 chipset

it's the p45 chipset... BIOSTAR TForce TP45HP LGA

that okay?

Not really :(. It's only 2 x 8x (PCI-Ex) in CF from what I can see. You'll need an X38 chipset for those cards.

I can always get a refund

what do you guys recommend?

Get an X38. The one I'm using right now from ASUS is great! The P5E WS Professional (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131236)

I'm gonna order this for it...Corsair Dominator 4 GB DDR2 1066 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145197)

And eventually, I'll be ordering a new graphics card...when the GT200 is refreshed in 55nm.

What motherboard do you recommend?

Anything with two x16 PCI-E slots. Either X38 or X48 chipset.

The prices are a little outrageous on those boards though.

yeah what capt said

ask yourself the question, do you really need crossfire

Yep. A good P35, P43 or P45 board can be had for $100 or less. $80-$150 is a lot to pay for half of a PCI-E slot. :p

Though I am curious how much performance drops when not using the full x16 + x16 slots.

Get my board if you're unsure. It's great and with BIOS 802 performance on GTX280 and newer ATI cards is much better (there was a bug with previous versions).

My roommate has a nice 1080P DLP TV I wanted to game on....

crossfire is needed :]
