You could have pointed out which one
Just so everyone is aware, it's $329 with a dreaded $50 mail in rebate. You pay $379, wait a bunch of months and hope whatever inevitably crappy 3rd party rebate company they're using accepts your rebate. Still, a good deal if you trust rebates (for me their success record is about 60/40).
Its the PNY one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133229

But not better than two :D Although the 8800 GTX was still kind of expensive last I checked.
Go for it. You'll like it :D
That's so cheap. I hate this UK rip-off crap :(

I've got 100% success rate with mail-in rebates. All you do is make copies, mail it in ,and as soon as they deny it for whatever ludicrous reason they come up with, email them and file a complaint on www.bbb.org Honestly, the BBB has become a process in about 40% of my rebates, which is about the same as you seem to be experiencing.
I actually mailed in two rebates to EVGA during my last build. They refused one, but after emailing them, they processed it. Here was all I said in the email.
It states my rebate is invalid because no UPC/serial number. Guys, look in the envelope I sent you, it's all there. I sent the original UPC cut from the box. It contains the serial number. I sent the receipt as needed, and I sent the rebate form.
It is illegal not to honor mail in rebates. I sent all the paperwork. Send me the rebate, or I will take legal action.

Yeah I usually follow up on the ones that are worth following up on. I've let some $20's and below slide though, just not worth the effort.
In any case, the great thing about this is perhaps it will spur some competition between the various manufacturers. So perhaps we'll be seeing similar rebates on the more respected brands.
I still think it will be 299 very soon.

All i want is evga for $299. How do you guys think that would perform on my rig if I got a 22" to go with it?
It would rape a 22" screen at very high AA in pretty much every game.

how would my cpu hold up?
Your CPU would definitely hold it back from it's full potential, but it would still perform very nicely.

I can't afford to worry about rebates, trying to track them after I send them, and filing reports with the BBB. I'd end up losing more money (calculated by what I make/hr), than what I'd gain back in return. Meaning, I'd make more money just working longer at my job, that fooling around with these $20-50 dollar rebates. Heck, I can't even justify sending off for one worth less than $20.
This is probably true for a lot of us who are buying (and can afford) these high end cards (instead of daddy or mommy).
So, in my viewpoint, the price of a card is its price not considering any rebate.
